hope someone can help. about 4 weeks ago I fitted a new driveshaft on the passenger side but after I had fitted it about a week later a bit of noise was coming from the gearbox but now its got really loud after 4 weeks and im having trouble selecting gears but when its in neutral and ive got the clutch pedal down theres no whining noise but when I take my foot off the clutch it starts whining again and moves forward in neutral ( confused ) could this be the clutch, clutch release bearing, wrongly fitted driveshaft, gear linkage or trans fluid that's causing this?

I should point out that when I removed the old driveshaft no trans fluid came out which from my experience usually does I obviously didn't realise as I had been drinking the night before and was fitting it while I had a hangover and just wanted to get it done asap so my mrs would get off my back and she could have her car back.

can anyone give me any advice as what it could be my mrs really needs the car urgently 1st thing in the morning at 6am to travel to hospital which is a very long way.

If its 100% in neutral for sure and moving forward, then all I can think of is a shaft in the gearbox has somehow seized but I can't for the life of me think how...

What's the situation with the gearbox oil right now? Full? Drain a bit - what's the colour like?

Weird one.

the shafts seem ok I checked the new 1 I put on and its fine nice tight fit lined up perfect. I've added about half a litre of oil just to see if it would make an difference but its still the same not drained any out as yet that's my next job. it does go into gear but I have to push it really hard to get in to 1st but seems to go alright in 2nd then have to ram it into 3rd then ok in to 4th then 5th is ok. that's what made me think it was the gear linkage or lack of trans fluid

How are you filling it with oil? Fill it from the side hole until oil comes out.

I done it from the top like I usually have done in the past
