There have been disputes as to my car being kept on my drive (yes my own drive!!!!!) to the point where my mum has threatened tonight to move it off the drive with her car (discovery)
Out of interest what would happen to my car if she tried as surely all 4 wheels are "locked" from it being in gear with the handbrake applied?

the tow eye will snap and probably snap a hole in the rear bumper while it does it.
If not
it would just drag it out with none of the wheels moving, and would probably leave 4 scrape lines from the tires lol
I bet your mum wont do it

I'm being forced to park round the corner at a woman's house we own who's 36 year old son does not like me. Therefore I hate parking there. Can't legally leave my car on the road as I like next to a junction and near an industrial estate so it'll be taken out by a lorry within a day!

really worth falling out and arguing with your mam about this? why dont you look into renting a council garage somewhere? My car always used to go in the garage at me mams house, then she bought a brand new car, only an i10 but she wanted it in the garage, as it was her house and her garage and drive, i just said ok. I didnt like my car on the drive, but wasnt going to argue.
If you have paid for everything in your life, always cooked your tea and shes done fuck all for you fair enough, but thats highly unlikely. Just show her some respect and move your car, im also guessing that her business, how ever legit or not legit it is, pays money so she can buy and cook you tea and keep that roof over your head.
You could always move out and get your own drive

about 2 weeks ago there was a (I think mk3 ) cortina racing it in my street, bright orange with additional rally headlights etc. The driver hit the floor on one of the speedbumps and then a huge bang followed by noises of bits going everywhere.
Car stuck in gear and 10 minutes later a beefy audi quattro towed it away. It sounded like a wounded, dying squealing pig when they took off, was hilarious. Probably killed his tyres in the process.

Because she LOST the spare set last time she did.

As said I dislike her son but have no problem with her. When she told me the neighbours complained I said fair enough. Pisstake was though her calling her friend to park her car half blocking me in and then when i leave she moved it to the space for 5 days straight! AFAIK she never even asked to use her drive (its a row of terraced houses with a long space with enough room for them to have 1 car EACH. this woman doesnt drive.

Someone could park 50 cars all down the road, as long as they are taxed and insured, nothing you can do about it (as long as they aren't blocking dropped curbs or pathways)
Find somewhere else to park?
Pay to have the other half of your garden made into a driveway? I doubt your house is one car thick

That's between you and her, meanwhile it's clearly a case of having one key only. From that point you can potentially and obviously end up in a few unpleasant situations.
One of my mates lost his only key, cost him £400 worth of flatbed for commuting back home then get his V5 and a new key cut.

Non up to date photo of the front of my house.
Changes:
Car is now a discovery
Garage has now been extended forwards so it sits level with the rest of the front of the house so when my car is parked on my drive the back of the car sits level to the pavement. (This is what started the arguement as its been done 2 months)
Grass in front is now a muddy and rutty so parking a car on it would warrant it being stuck when it rains.
Oh and before anyone says to put my car in the garage i cant. my dads car (which literally never moves) is in there and is also a people carrier.

someone already parks there (some dude who lives round there who has a car of his own, company van and his wifes car) so the van and car sit on that corner and buses come round there or id have looked at that. then further up is someone elses drive. pretty lost for options really.

in low range, a car with the hand brake on and in gear wont trouble one at all
Unless that disco has a bootfull of air tanks and honking great compressor, it'll never move that lot. Pretty sure the rate of acceleration will be crap as well, as there isn't enough traction to transmit more than a fraction of the available power to the track. Also, in the wet it would just fail.
In answer to the OP's qestion, even with a new shape disco, it'll have more than enough torque to simply drag the saxo wherever. If it's in first either the clutch will slip, the tires will slide, the engine will turn the wrong way, or it'll blow a drive shaft. Back wheels will either turn against the brakes, or the tires will slide.

Obviously it was a setup for when the 200tdi discovery was released in 1989. I had a land rover mag a few years back that covered it, 130 tonnes the carriages weighed and it did move it but it wouldnt have been quick. More a PR stunt that anything but still

Agreed. I saw a defender 130 double cab with a road rail conversion a while back. Looked a right beast. Not denying the disco would move them as long as the brakes were released, which is why you need a sh*tload of air tanks. I'd worry more about stopping that load rather than starting it though.
The new unimog's are regularly used as shunter locos within industrial complexes. I've seen one pushing 6 or 7 fully loaded tankers around with ease, and the rate of acceleration was pretty decent as well. The entire bed of the mog was full of air tanks to run the train brakes.
Two men could pull that train, so a disco shouldn't have too big an issue.
True, but given the small rail/tire contact patch (look how much the disco is actually jacked up), even in 4wd, the avaliable traction will mean a pretty light right foot is required, even more so in the wet.

I did own a red 1.1 Saxo for a very short period of time. It had a yellow gearknob and multicoloured seat belts.
Ford is about as shed as it gets, less power than quoted and poor gearboxes. what you want is a mk1 fiesta, and stick an RS2000 engine.

Clubbing his engine with a bat doesn't count. Duratec is the name of the engine.

You tried to tow a car with engine switched off while in gear with the handbrake on?
There have been disputes as to my car being kept on my drive (yes my own drive!!!!!) to the point where my mum has threatened tonight to move it off the drive with her car (discovery)
Out of interest what would happen to my car if she tried as surely all 4 wheels are "locked" from it being in gear with the handbrake applied?
Its not your own drive. Its your parents. Have some respect.

you seemed an alright person, then people got banned because the mods were being bellends on owners and you jumped on the bandwagon with every fucker else.

I admit at one point i was a bellend posting random crap, not nowadays.
When I had the pug I only had a part time job and always was sat twiddling my thumbs or writing shit on owners, now I have a full time job those days are gone. That combined with the fact that of course I use FOC and love4ford more (for obvious reasons) means that ive actually grown the fuck up. Could ask a number of people that!

Yes, and it was a proper job that did that. Not working in some shitty chinese takeaway a few nights a week. In fact I handed my notice in there yesterday...
For the reason that I was a twat on there, yes I regret joining owners but in the way I still talk to a few people off there (not many I admit) I dont regret it.

Not in my experience. Expensive to fix, extortionate prices on parts, complicated to work on.
But it was comfy and had a bit of poke - they were the only plus points I found. That was a Mondeo.

Well, it's a chat room, there are servers. (freenode.net etc)
Servers contain channels.
Each channel contains at least one operator, who can moderate.
Channels have topics, which tells you what they're about or info relating to channel such as rules.
Each user has a unique nick and ID - which makes it easy to get info relating to physical location of a user trying to attack etc.
So it's a good way to chat :) fuck this facebook shit :homme: IRC has been around since internet.

I'm not old an old fogey but that seems wayyyyy too complicated for me ha. Is it sort of more complex version of reddit? Kind of?

I don't get this bit either! You saying if someone attacks another user you can find out their location? And how is it a good way to chat if people attack you and can track you down?! Sounds scary to me...

Not an exact location, no :homme: info is used to create a ban on that user from a certain area if they cause hassle. which makes it harder to ban walk :P
It's not like reddit at all. IRC is plain text. There is no user interface at all, no windows - an IRC client does that for you to make it easier to use.

I'm really not a fan of Fiesta's - no offence lol. I always get the feeling that they're just built for the sake of it and have no real personality. I do quite like the Mazda 2 though tbf, which is basically just a Fiesta in a fancy frock. The only Ford I'd buy is an ST or RS/500 Focus... and that'd have to be running silly power and sound like a Quattro to get my attention lol.

My best mate just had a decatted and stage 1 with Mountune bits Focus RS500 in his unit for a detail (well, as far as you can go with one of those things with wrap on there) prepping it for Ford Fair and my GOD it sounded awesome.
