My 106 diesel is a non pas rack so you'd expect it to be quite heavy, my previous 1.0 was a lot lot lighter than what my diesel is. I know the extra weight of the diesel will make it heavier than the 1.0 engine but the difference is quite a lot and the steering on my 106 has always had a tendency of not wanting to return to centre without some input.
I was bored this evening and had a look, my track rod ends have no play at all and the rack seems tight but I found these:

I noticed the rubber is cracking and quite worn and it looks like something has snapped off the top, any idea of what might have come off?
