Hi guys.
I need a new car, but I havent saved any money as in going on holiday soon with mates.
If you were in my position, would you:
1. Save 2 weeks after my holiday for a shitty £300 car.
2. Save 2 months after my holiay and buy a car for £1000.
3. Get a car on finance.
Thanks.

Buy a shitter for a few hundred quid with a few months tax and mot and save while driving that.

I wouldn't buy a £300 shitter as you'll probably find the money that's going towards a new car after that will go on fixing the shitter
I'd just save for a few months and buy one for 1k, plenty of decent cars around for that price

As above -
From my p.o.v i'd struggle to find a car for 1k - that I can insure for less than 2k.
Swings and roundabouts, just got to live like a hermit and save the cash for a while.
Ideally you want a car that's >2005 (cheap(er) insurance) less likely to need repairing daily etc.
I'd love another saxo but just cannot get insured.

Current car and last car have both been under 500 quid ( 306 and saxo) both needed 200 quid for mot and the 306 got me around for 8 months (long drives as well) done a good 5-8k miles in the 7-8 months I had it. (Cracked head finished it off) now I've got a saxo (good 2 months) got for 180 quid after trading in the 306 at 150 quid and got no major problems with it, body and engine are tidy and strong. So far.

I had a P reg micra that had 97k on it for £300. Ended up scrapping it at over 125k but was a cracking wee daily and took me from glasgow to alton towers and glasgow to dunfeies on a coulpe of occasions. Sailied every MOT.

Do you need a car? If not save up for 6 months and spend 3k on something worthwhile.

Few things don't add up here tbh.
You need a new car, but can wait 2 months till you save up?? You either need 1 or you don't.
And you are going on holiday soon, but havn't booked up, and im guessing you don't have any spending money saved up either??
How the hell are you going to manage to do it??

Go on cheaper holiday.
Me and my mates went to Prague last week, accommodation was about £40 each and it was decent, flights £60 and a round of drinks (6 beers) even in the touristy bars came to about £3. 40p a pint and loads to do! We had a great time and it came in at about £300 each for a week as everything is so cheap.
Meanwhile mates going to the name drop chav islands have spent £3k plus.
Great if you can afford it, but sounds like you cant!

get one on finance, you can get brand spanking new cars from £120 a month.
Although, mine is £180 a month for 5 years, but i had a good deposit down on it, only had it for 2-3 months, and it will be getting traded in after summer, thats the beuty of finance, always get the chance to trade it back in for something better (if you've paid a little more off on the finance, you always take a loss on trading back in, but not a loss if your getting something better!)

fuck ever buying a car on finance
worst decision ever
depends if you actually want a car just to go from A to B or to modify.
If you're tight on money, id get a 1.5d saxo/106 for £2-500 and reap the benefits of 60mpg
then when you've saved enough money for the car you actually want, get that

Right, holiday is getting booked on thursday. Thats £274.
I can save around £150 a week of my wage towards a car.
With regards to needing a car, it's more, im fed up of busses and getting up an hour earlier for work than I used to.

Nothing wrong with £300 cars! I lived off them (well still do!) with not many problems since I was 17. My first 106 was £400 and lasted 2 years, nearly 40k miles. Needed the odd drive shaft and a clutch but that's about it!
Can't say that about my recent £300 purchase though lol. You just need to find the right/lucky one.
