hi everyone! just like to say hello as im new :y: im Callum, im 18 and just got on the road.
ive got a saxo east coast 99 reg (T) and its done just over 87k.
i will try and describe the problem best i can, just ask if you need any more information.
When i turn the ignition on the car fires up but ticks over really low, it splutters and then cuts out. When i put my foot on the accelerator and give it some revs (not in gear) it cuts out again:panic:. when i just give it very few revs and just keep it there and gradually increase revs it seems to warm up and then ticks over fine, and once the car has been started once it starts up fine after, unless its not been started for a fair few hours. Also the other day the car was on the drive and the sun had been shining on it and the bonnet was warm, it started fine that day. Im not sure if that's relevant or not... :wall: i cant think what else to say but if anybody has any questions that may help i will do my best to find out :)

ps i brought it off a family friend and the mechanic gave it the once over and said it was all ok :y: so i hope its just a minor problem!

Really appreciate any help from you guys!

kind regards
callum :y:

Im pretty sure it's ignition related

But my first guess would be the spark plugs

Dear Callum,
Firstly, thank-you for your kind reply Callum:y:
Secondly, I am really sorry but 1.1s are not my specialist subject, I am affraid.
Hopefully, someone else who is more familiar with 1.1,s than I am may be able to help you, may come along soon.
Vince,
