My paint seems to be bubbling slightly round the petrol cap area, as shown on the picture. It's been like this since I got the car and since got a couple more bubbles. You can hardly notice it...but how can i stop it spreading? is it a respray job to get rid of it?

That's rust mate. It will need either sanding down and re painting or grinding out and replacing depending on how bad it is.

What car is it mate and how old is it. If its a new ish car it might be worth looking into the paint and corrosion warranty.

It's an 11 year old Saxo... It's been like that a good 2 years and probably gained 2 new bubbles during that time.

Could the cause of this rust be from behind the plastic in the boot where saxo's tend to rust? Never stripped the car inside to bare metal before so i don't know how bad the rust could be if their is any.

If it bubbles like that the panel is generally fucked mate. Takes a hell of a lot of rust to come all the way through the steel.

Thats a shame... Had a look and no rust in the boot only a little on the boot floor. Ill just see how it goes..

no dirt there what so ever I give the car a good clean everyweek, including inside the arches!!

The previous owner i doubt ever washed the car in it's life however...which would explain why it was like this when i got it.

I'd strip the interior to have a look at the panel, it might be effed up tbh.

Rust doesn't come out of the paint like that, it's a chemical reaction with oxygen. Definitely shows an underlying problem somewhere else.

That bubbling is still within the join between the arch and inner boot panels, there's probably a large build up of muck above the fuel filler pipe which has caused issues

This is how far up the rear arch reaches go, this is my AX but the upper arch is near identical to the Saxo

And this is how much muck sits above the filler neck, this is only 25,000 miles worth!

That is bad! Unless its been resprayed and not prep'd very well. Only other saxo ive seen do that was Yorkies old one. Its common in fords though.

Have someone with a ramp check it over for rust, if the cars past saving it may be worth flogging it on while its still not to bad and got test.
