Recently bought a car, newish one and when it comes to washing my cars im really anal, has to be done my way or not at all. But my dad has a tendency to wash my car while im sleeping (i work nights so asleep during day) he uses one bucket same wash mitt for wheels/car he will throw the wash mitt on the floor then pick up and put in the bucket etc. He has ruined my moms car and if he continues washing mine he will ruin that aswell, ive told him ile wash my own car then he just moans saying im ungreatful etc.

Solution: Buy a Jet wash / Steam cleaner / detailing kit / buckets, mitts, etc teach him how to wash it job done

Tell him what you've just posted? Either that or just wash his car with a bucket of broken glass and sand and see what he reckons.

Explain to him why you don't want him washing your car... go into detail about the 2 bucket method and avoiding sponges to reduce the risk of swirl marks... if he doesn't understand then wash his car with a wire brush, im sure he'd understand then.

Just say it's been polished so don't wash it or he can fork out for the expensive polish and wax

Ive told him not to wash my cars many of times. He doesnt drive, meaning no car to attack

If you cant talk to your dad about washing your car then id say just go jump off a cliff, you won't survive life.

This is probably the kindest way - just explain it's been polished so cant be washed without using the right products or it "strips the wax" etc. :)

As above, just man up and tell him.
I can't understand the problem? He's doing something that you don't like, tell him to stop.

Or there's always Jeremy Kyle?

Sit him down, like adults and explain.

I think I would have a heart attack if my dad washed my car for me.
I'm always the one washing his (The way it should be TBH)

Give him your specific products and show him how to do it properly, give him the polisher so he can get to grips with it too.

He's trying to do you a favour - Meet him half way and let him do it properly for you :)

What??

He's doing you a favour, just tell him you'd rather he didn't. Fuck me if it's that much trouble just move the car away so he can't wash it.

I can't understand why this bloke is cleaning your car even if you ask him not to? Somebody scratches my car, I tell them off and they don't do it again. Somebody's dog shits on my drive, I tell them off and they don't do it again. If your dad is insisting that he cleans your car then you're probably better off a long way away from the bloke.

What a weird set of circumstances.

This just epitomises what the world is like today. People are so reliable on social media and community based websites that they don't even have the initiative to make such a simple decision.

I wonder what the OP's Dad would say if he found that his son had to ask on a public forum how to tell his own Dad not wash his car.

Definitely thread worthy. Have a judge to provide him a restraining order, 50 feet around the vehicle

Tell him what you've just posted? Either that or just wash his car with a bucket of broken glass and sand and see what your hand ends up like

Tell him not to wash it.
Teach him how to wash it.
Sort your face out.

If that is something in your life that genuinely stresses you out, you either need to get a serious grip or accept your life is pretty easy.
