Quick question,

Am I entitled to compassionate leave if my long term girlfriend, of 3 years, had an operation on Friday and is bed-bound in hospital for the next 7 days?

If so can anyone find a source on this on the Internet? As either I can't find anything or I'm being too lazy.

Thanks in advance

Just had a look and these seem to be the ones you can take

if a dependant falls ill
if a dependant has been injured or assaulted
if a dependant is having a baby
issues around a dependant's care arrangements
unexpected incidents involving children at school
if a dependant dies

So i think if the operation was planned then they wont give you it. bit shit like

half the problem is the fact that shes in hospital and you're not the one administering the care. It might be different if you live together and she comes home then being reliant on you personally. Most reasonable employers might consider it then, or allow unpaid leave if they're not willing to finance the extended leave
