Hi guys i brought a corsa vxr 2 weekends ago, i drove away from the garage and took the car out all day i looked at the paperwork for my "free" insurance and i noticed that it ran out at 00:01 that day i wasn't insured all day even though i was told i had a days insurance when i left the garage that day.

Also i have since had to take the car back as the gearbox went on it after 6 days they had the car for 5 days after this telling me they would be fixing it, after the 5 days they called me saying it would be another 2 weeks before i car would be fixed i wasn't happy with this as i had only had the car a week and they wanted to take it off me for a long period of time, i went into the garage and they said we can fix it or you can have your money back i thought this was odd as i didn't think any car garage would offer me my money back unless something major was wrong with the car? I got my money back at this point but was wondering if i could take this any further with the insurance thing or even the fact i had been sold the car with a faulty gearbox, i had to get taxis to and from work each day i work 10 miles from home so was costing me £30 a day in taxis so cost me a fortune.

What would you do??

Thanks

Live and learn:
Don't buy a Vauxhall.

Epic troll.

I doubt you will get any repayment for the taxi's to be honest, but agree it is strange they offered you a straight refund!

First off, you brought it? So no money was exchanged.

Secondly. It's a Corsa - that is just a massive mistake.

You got your money back and walked away from a shed

Take it on the chin and be happy you got a refund

Not fit for purpose, but you got your money back so what's the problem? Go buy another one now. the garage you refer to seem to have been good to you about it as in returning your money to you even if it did take a bit of time.

you got your money back you complete fucking mong,

I fail to see how this is worse than selling people fake beats by dre in the for sale section, which you used to do.

I think we agree with what i'm about to say.

By people do you mean OP and other people being Garage?

I think he's just trying it on to get money for no reason at all? You "bought" a car, they gave you the money back.

Disagree with the comments though, Vauxhall aren't too bad. Corsa VXr however is, known common MAJOR problems, go Astra next time. :y:

You got a resolution that the vast majority of people would struggle to get, easily.

Take your money, try a buy a better one next time.

Not trying to start an argument here, but is that a Mazda 3 MPS in your Avatar?

Which is basically the Mazda version of an Astra VXR?....

It is indeed. Fuck knows, it could be. I just hate vauxhalls full stop.

DID own one, bahhh she was good on fuel. I now own a Mondeo if you wanted to know.
I could be mistaken here but didn't you buy a Kalos or am I getting mixed up with another gimp?

Please tell me you weren't seriously thinking about taking it further? It is down to the driver to check he is insured regardless what a garage has told you.

Mind boggling.

FURIO buys car;

Car goes wrong;

Garage offer refund;

FURIO takes refund;

FURIO doesn't read FREE policy details and goes by what he was told by a salesman. He doesn't get in trouble with the po po but thinks he's entitled to take the piss.

I would understand if you got points and had the car recovered, but a simple phone call from the police to the garage and I'm sure the garage would have stated it was insured and all would be well.

As many have stated you're lucky to get a full refund... many aren't as fortunate count your chips and eat them.

Jesus wept.

Right person but I am not one to go judging other peoples cars, other than GolfJay privately just to humour him.

Admittedly OP's is trying to compensate being fucked around, but come on it's an inconvenience and overall you got lucky, could of been left with a big bill.

Take it on the chin and buy a new one...

Gonna rant now, not aimed at OP..

We live in an absolute claim culture. People try and claim for fuck all nowadays just because others do and they feel they are missing out, i'd think myself lucky I got my money back on the dodgy car.

Things people do for a bit of 'easy money' these days.

A car-ful of lads I know got shunted from behind by a 'mate' of theirs, all the lads were fine as it was low impact and even admitted they were fine after being paid out for whiplash.

One lad even claimed to have nightmares and flashbacks despite it being a lie it couldn't be proven wrong and he got around 5k for that and whiplash, he even joked around in the pub after being paid out and said 'I best have a few drinks to celebrate and hopefully I wont have any nightmares' and then laughed

It is something I will never forget, people like that deserve something bad to happen to them... karma.

Sickening, fucked over one of their own mates for a quick couple of grand and he couldn't afford to insure his car and lost his apprenticeship.

It's along the lines of people fraudulently claiming benefits etc. funded by taxpayers

Post up the reg everywhere.

make sure everyone knows the car was a piece of shit and should be left alone.

why are you complaining??

you got a refund? thats more than reasonable. Its not like the garage knew it had problems when they sold it to you

a little inconvenience is a part of life. You cant expect to be compensated for everything

r1d1cul0usu5ern4me - to stop others buying a shit car? preventing others possibly buying a car thats obviously knackered? potentially help someone save a lot of money?

WHy is it obviously knackered, maybe they have swapped the box now? Garage seem decent offering a refund straight away too so why would you want to badmouth them.

How many cars on here are bought with engine and gearbox swaps? it doesnt affect the car if its done correctly, which you'd assume it would be should they want to actually get rid of the car without people getting refunds every 5 minutes
