Alternator has given up after 6 months.

I bought my 106 about 6 months ago and when I bought it the alternator was dead, I tested it with my multimeter and it was only putting out around 10.5-11v and the battery light was when it was running.

So I fit a new alternator and it was reading 14.4v when running and only dropped .1 or so with all electrics on.
Over last few weeks I've noticed battery going flat and when I checked the alternator it's only putting out 12.4v, I put a new battery on today since the one that was on was old anyway and it's made no difference.

The alternator had a 1 year warranty but has anyone else experienced one dying this quickly? It was a reconditioned part from Andrew Page and not new, also will 12.4v be enough to keep me going for the time being? During the day it's ok if I run with no electrics but on the night engine bogs down and the lights go dim.

Why does it matter if anyone else has had the same issue? Just get the alternator replaced.

Yeah my mates have had some die after a month, it's my cars time of the month it seems everything is going wrong :wall:

No I haven`t bought mine(recon)from eurocarparts 3yrs later still running fine touch wood.:drink:

Wish I used Euro car parts, this is the third time this year Andrew Page have messed up for me.
Used Euro car parts for my clutch cable that snapped last week right part, quality is OE and was a good price.

Might be gay but are you putting too much tension on the belt. See it all the time the belt gets tightened too much putting pressure on the bearing, bearing goes gay and alternator looses voltage and charging abilities.
