View Full Version : Keeping back box in place
Basically my back box has come loose. Purely and simply because the hanger its on are too long. I did cable tie it up and it was perfect. Haven't had chance to look at it but guessing they have snapped, meaning its dropped and rattled the joint loose cos its blowing a bit and very loose, can move it with hardly any force and can hear it rattling around when driving.
What can I use to keep it tight to the car?
Decent set of new hangers
Not sure they are the problem though, think its that it sits too low on the hangers, not due to them being worn but more due the design. Not sure its a standard backbox. Then I have to tie them up so there is movement?
mine rattles loose at the back box at the center box joint, even melted my bumper, was ok when had my cat but sits differently now my 421 is on, even if i turn my box round & clamp it tight it will still come loose, could clean up both sides of metal & buy new clamp.
I've just had a stupid thought based on what you said about turning it round. I took the old back box off and put this one on the same way. The first was a shitty normal one that points down to the ground but this has an actual exit parallel to the ground. Maybe I have mounted it upside down, that's why the hangers are far too long. Will report back. gonna kick myself if that's why haha

Id love to now how you can fit it upside down lol.
How big are the rubber hangers? elastic bands? :zainy:
... even if i turn my box round & clamp it tight
And the little hangers that are welded to the box are angled aren't they. If I flip the box over then they will point down instead of up or up instead of down.

If that fails then replace your cable ties with hose clamps for a temp fix
