I've been offered some pugsport Tarmac dampers for £80, but I've never really heard of these dampers, so are they any good on a daily lowered 50mm? I want good handling as well as a bit more comfort over the standards I got ATM.
Thanks.

What they like for handling and daily comfort?

You drive a lowered Saxo, does comfort really matter?

No but anything should be better than standard, I just got a new job so ill be driving further and earlier in the morning I don't wanna get pissed off with the car lol
Are these dampers comparable to the likes of Bilstein b8s or anything?

Theyre really comfortable actually not harsh at all. Very good dampers, much more comfortable than say Bilsteins GrpNs etc. About as comfortable as B8s tbh.
But I doubt they will work well together with your springs you have..
not really suited for low spring rates but awesome dampers

They're a good piece of kit but as AlexB said, they're suited better to harder springs. Obviously they're designed for hard tarmac racing/rallying so that's when they operate best.

But they will still work ok with apex 50mm springs? I plan on doing a couple of track days sooner or later and might get better springs if that's the case, but are they worth £80 an ok with my springs?

No theyre not ok with your springs, as myself, Alex and Kebabman have said they wont be ok.
I would use something in the region of 250lb to 325lb with them rather than your apex 115lb or whatever they are which are basically standard lb just shorter.

Not worth getting then, thanks for the help.

Yeh, theyre worth getting because you said you are planning on doing track days and might get some different springs.
£80 is very cheap for them dampers, can sell them for more if you dont ever use them. Also they wont be available again when you do want some unless you dont mind paying £400 orwhatever it is for the dampers new.

Ahh ok, if i get them and fit them to my vtr with the apex springs for a while before I get better ones will it be ok? My standard vtr ones are on there last legs, so It makes sense to upgrade, but I don't want to buy these if I can't fit them and use then with my springs for a while before I upgrade again.

B8 rears are harsh enough for a daily lol. I wouldnt even use Bilstein grp n for a daily
Those will be spine killers, esp on our roads. :D
any pics?

Dont use the pugsports with apex springs.
What im saying is that £80 for Pugsport GrpNs is a very good price and they dont come up for sale second hand that often at all, so I would snap them up and use them in the future with some springs that are more suitable for use with them. Just keep the dampers in the garage until you get new springs that are suitable for them.
If you dont get any springs for them then you could sell them for double £80 therefore you havent lost anything.
You could use the pugsports with standard ID springs but it wont be lowered. Otherwise if you want the car lowered you can use them in a custom coilover setup. PugSports are much smoother and more comfortable that Bilstein GrpNs, theyre not harsh at all. PugSports are alot better on the road than Bilstein GrpNs I would say theyre as smooth and comfortable as what B8s are. So basically they feel OEM like a standard car, just not a bouncy spongy saxo, compare them to a modern day car with a firmer OEM suspension.
if you dont buy them
pm me for my mobile number and put the guy selling them in touch with me

I've got a pair sat in the garage but at £80 I'd be tempted with another...

What's this custom coilover set up about then? How would I go about doing it and what will it cost?
£80 is a bargain.
But as said spring rates are wrong... + you need to have the rear end of the car matching.
Buy them and sell for a small profit...

How much would you sell them for? Tempted to leave them tbh bit over kill for what I need and i can't be bothered to buy and sell if I'm only making £20
If they're in good condition you could get £120-150 for them really. They're circa £180 per damper from memory.
Either make a few quid or pass them onto the forum... If you're not building a complete set up IMO you are wasting your time.

Might buy them and sell them on for that then.
Suppose Ill need to keep an eye out for some more, any recommendations for some front shocks lowered 50mm but will handle well? Comfort isn't too much of an issue tbh
ill swap you some b8s for the pugsports lol
buy a package from someone like Kam racing if you want to make life easy for you.
Then you get spring rates matched bla bla bla...

lol, try circa 240 each from special tuning... ive just sold mine as I`m getting the satchell setup.. immense dampers with 300lb springs.. maybe a bit too hard for when its wet but in the dry you`ll have a hoot and not shake your fillings out
