Looking at getting some gaz coilovers with custom 5 inch springs was wondering what is the minimum drop on this size spring and what lb spring most people go for.

Also looking to drop the car between 70-80mm at this height what problem could you encounter.

all depends what use the coilovers are for? road or track?

Ruined road handling and looking like a tool are the two primary concerns imo.

If you'r going for 70/80mm drop then the springs supplied will be ok.
I had the 5 inch springs for my saxo and lowered to around 120mm and ride and handling was very good (was on 13" wheels).

minimum drop with 5 inch springs is about 100ish mm
at that height you encounter -
you bottom out on quite a few things before that height though. Antiroll bar, brake lines, power steering pipes, driveshaft to chassis, wishbone to chassis, track rods to chassis/fuel line/brake bar mechanism...

at 70-80 however, power steering pipe might need to be bent, should be alright for the other problems tho

i've got 250lb as i thought 300 with standard gaz springs are too hard. However at that height, a softer spring just means the 'bounce' makes it more likely to bottom out. Also a softer spring causes it to go coilbound, which is what happened to me - eventually snapping the springs
