hpi or similar car check recommendations

Looking to buy a car this weekend, a 106 gti, and was thinking about getting an hpi check done. Iirc its about 30bucks for an hpi, has anyone any recommendations on a good cheap status/history check service?

HPI has a guarentee if you fill out some more details if you buy it too.

If the GTI is £1000, 3% is hardly anything for accurate reliable peice of mind!

they'll tell you HPI status, if its been lost or stolen, colour change, number of previous owners etc

all for 3 pound

I usually use https://www.mycarcheck.com/

For the sake of £15 it gives you that piece of mind that the car is genuine and you are not being ripped off or taken for a mug!

I think it's mycarcheck that I used when I bought the AX. They send you a paper record/certificate in the post aswel which I've stuck in the the other paperwork

Yeah that is correct, the send you a certificate with the information on. Not sure if HPI do the same.

they all use the same database of information,

mytextcheck is the cheapest way to get it at £3,

the paper printed off isnt worth the extra lol

And cars can still have finance against them or be stolen even when found by hpi NOT to be

Doesn matter now, the seller punted it to someone else before i got there.
