I've got an old iphone 3GS which was jailbroken, long story short its recently had a full reset and now when it turns on it won't register so I can't actually do anything with the phone. Any ideas?
Thanks

More detail needed. What do you mean it won't register?

When i turn the phone on now I have to enter language, country or region,wi fi and then it says "activating your iphone", this takes about 2 or so minutes and then it comes up
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your phone to iTunes to activate it or try again in a few minutes"
Thanks
Edit: obviously tried a few times and tried it via iTunes and neither had any success.

I'm sure I read somewhere ages ago that jailbreaking an iPhone and then putting it on iTunes makes apple block it.
Just something I read, could be that.

Sorry but the above is utter garbage. Complete nonsense. I dont mean to be harsh, you can safely sync jailbroken devices with itunes.
What software version are you running on the 3GS i expect whats happened is that you are running an old firmware that apple no longer "sign" off and therefore the registration will fail. You have two choices: plug into itunes, upgrade to the latest software (need to update your itunes to the latest version as well) and then the registration will go through.
If you dont want to do that and want to remain on the current ios version then you can attempt to jailbreak it again which should activate the phone as well: http://www.iclarified.com/jailbreak/iphone3gs/firmware.php < this will guide you through it

Wasn't harsh, because you were giving wrong facts..
The only thing with jailbreak is that you can't update the phone or it restores the phone to a none jailbroken stage, and you can't take it into an apple store if there is a problem and its jailbroken at the time you take it in..

He quoted it was harsh himself.... Annnnyway.
Thats what I have got mixed up with, knew it caused problems somewhere.
I couldn't remember as it had been the 3GS that I had jail broken.

I had the same issue, i took it to one of them phone shops and the reflashed it for £20, fixed the phone,
mines jailbroken too, its perfectly fine to connect to iTunes, just make sure in the settings that auto updates etc are disabled!
