Hi everyone!
As title suggests, I've popped my Saxo VTR cherry this week; on Wednesday I bought a 2003 VTR in 'Poseidon Blue', 89k miles, FSH with all receipts, regularly maintained and completely standard. Even original radio lol. £1,400
It's just as much fun as I thought it would be and it's exceeded my expectations! What made me purchase it? I'm off to Uni in September and wanted something relatively cheap to run, light, good on fuel and FUN. It's certainly proving that so far. I just love the way 1990s-early 2000s PSA/Peugeot/Citroen cars flow down B-roads :y:
Anyway, two issues which I would be grateful for advice on:
- Brakes: The car had new (though basic/cheap) disks and pads fitted in August 2012, however they feel poor. I've researched other threads, would simply fitting high-performance Ferodo DS2500 pads without changing the new-ish disks do the job? I'm not going to be tracking the car, but just want good braking for 'spirited' driving, as I feel quite vulnerable at the moment :fcuk:
- Engine: The car's history shows it's been regularly well maintained and there's no alarming signs from the engine bay and filler caps. However, while driving between 1500-2500rpm the engine sounds a bit overly ermmm... 'Tappy'. The noise instantly disappears above 2500rpm?! Is this normal with VTRs? Anyone else ever experienced this?
Kind regards :y:
Aaron
