for future shots of flowers set the camera to aperture priorty (AV) and put it to the lowest f stop number (prob f4), this will create a smaller depth of field, blurring the background and it will look much better.

ok thanks jungle jim. that was the 1st pic i took with it. i was sitting out in the garden playing with it. i need to read all the instructions and have a proper play with it tomorrow. its lovely quality though compared to my compact. also isit possible to have the lcd display on whilst taking the pics. iprefer the little lens though but the lcd bit is good for cheecking before taking and that

you can buy viewfinders that attach to the eyepiece to use as a screen... not sure how great they are tho!
plus the weight if a slr you should want it by your eye not 4ft infront of you

Angle finders
Only really useful for Macro work, wouldn't waste my money :)
Someone once pointed out to me that my 300D was "broken because the screen doesn't come on". hahaha!1

quality mate, i must admit im very jealous!!
i did consider getting a 300D instead because id be able to afford it quicker, but i want the extra features of the 350d, or possibly a 400d now theyre on their way to release.
Who knows, all i know is that when i get the camera ill get it with the bundled 18-55mm lense then ill buy a 50mm 1.8 straight away off ebay to get me goin! can't wait! shame itll be well after crimbo.. grrrrrr!

yeah in jessops the bloke said the 400d is going to be dear but by then it will be more worht it than paying less for the 350 coz of the features. i have a few new lenses now that i was given by my uncle got one thats better for macro shots and one that is abit better than the kit for motorsport and another one. so not bad
