Would help if the oil was the right grade though

It is the right grade. 5w-30 is perfectly fine for all modern engines. Ive ran it an every saxo ive ever had (sometimes used shitty magnatec in edge's place).

All TU series engines are supposed to run on 10w40
Except the new type ones from 2008 onwards!!

ALL modern engines? Awfully big claim. That said I'm sure they do other varieties of that particular brand to suit the TU for the same sort of price

Ive ran TU engines for a long time, tried all sorts of oil... especially used to swear by magnatec 10w-40.

After using castrol edge 5w-30 in the subaru, i thought id ask my mate who works for citroen if its ok to use it in the vts. He said he would only use 5w-30 in engines that may get driven hard to ensure a good oil supply evenly over the engine. 40 is a little too thick for 'performance' engines or those that get worked above average. That combined with a few shit reviews of magnatec 10w-40 i came across, i gave edge 5w-30 ago.

Easier starting, quieter tappets, better mpg, improved acceleration...

Each to their own views though i suppose, just thought id give a heads up on the price while its on offer.

5w30 is fine for my Skoda. Nice find!

more like for VAG engines. Also I it's the same price into any asda or eurocarparts, not the 70 odd quid RRP amazon claims.

Recently asda did a sale on that, at 4 quid a one liter bottle of 10w40, so 20 quid for 4 liters. Wouldn't put some 5w30 in a citroen though, I guess it sould be ok during winter but slightly too thin for summer. Unless you plan to drive hard and need slightly more effective lubrication. On the downside your car might start drinking oil:drink:

Only if its generally not looked after ;)

Euro Car Parts are doing it for £35 ish at the moment and thats with their discount. And asda, well thats asda :) pot luck on what deals they offer, ive personally never seen them do 4L castrol edge for £20 or id have had them all :)

They were doing the 1L for £4. Sometimes it's them sometimes it's tescos, just a matter of shopping around and keep an eye on it.

I got some 2 stroke oil (at 4 quid a bottle) from asda in march thought it was a good deal, and its the batch of the latest product recall castrol have on their site :wall: probably why the shitty thing seized last week :n:

^^^ email them about it. If you still have the bottle it should have a batch ref number on it.

Yep it does ... " 135401 " . They have confirmed its part of the dodgy batch, now ive got to send the 4 bottles ive got left and my cylinder head and piston off to them, at my cost, for them to decide if its knackered due to their contamination. Great :n:

I had to send stuff back before, like rotten baccie and brand new dead rechargeable battery etc. Also sent at my own cost but in return I received my expenses back, twice as much products in vouchers that I could spend in whatever shop, then some vouchers on top that I could spend in most shops. Even received a follow up letter regarding the tobacco and how they double looked into it.

I don't think they will indivually examine the actual contents, the bottle number is proof enough that it was in your possession. In your case it does suck considering the total cost for your inconvenience though I'm confident they'll sort you out in a fair way.

Been there done that. Not to the extent of sending engine parts but I've always been dealt with 100% properly and decently. In your case I'd do a recorded delivery though :y:

As Manu said, they usually just want to know you've actually bought it.

Otherwise everyone would be claiming free products!

decent deal though!
