vodafone activation?

I bought a vodafone PAYG sim card today for a vodafone blackberry PAYG phone. I can call the free services i.e top ups etc but it won't physically process the payment through when I top up online or when I call..

Do I need to activate the number somehow or does it usually work instantly?

I have had one text since I put the sim inside from vodafone just welcoming me.

Just ring up their customer help line and ask for it to be activated..

They need to activate it because after activation, if it doesn't get used for 6 months, the recycle the number..
