hi everyone

i have a 1.1L year 2000 saxo with just over 60000 miles on the clock.
ive just changed my pads and disc and my break are still very slow at stoping me there not as good as other cars ive droven.

ino theres no leak in the master cylinder and the breaks are bled correctly.
and the pistons work fine ithink and theres no rips in the rubber seals.

is there anything eles that i could check or do u think the breaks on this car are just rubish anyway.........

:wall::wall::wall::wall:

cheers all :p

Defo no leaks and defo bled right beld them till no more air came out and kept the peddle down, tighten the bleed screw up then release the peddle.

lob a set of vtr/s front calipers and discs on is a cheap good upgrade

how much do you reckon the will cost and will they have the same fitting

eg. how the caliper screws to the hub and that.

Tbh mate the 1.1 brakes on a saxo are the worst out of the saxo models.Short of doing the things mentioned the only other option would be to upgrade the front brakes, meaning a fair bit of cost ie changing discs pads calipers etc among other things.Alexb beat me too it mate.

This

Be a pain to change if he's a 3 studder though. :homme:

Not that it still cant be done. Mikol stuck some R/S calipers on a 3 stud iirc.

Be straight forward swap.

Not sure if the 2 bolts that bolt the calipers are the same size though.. not a major problem just make sure you get them incase

You will need the bolts for the calipers too
You can use your 1.1 flexi lines then vtr/s calipers pads and discs

£30 is about max most people would pay for some vtr/s calipers, with used idscs and pads

you can even get 266mm brakes for around £40 all depends who is selling at the time!

I never found our old 106 van to be lacking in the brakes department and that was driven hard. Sort the suspension out. Theres a whole lot of weight transfer forward under hard braking due to soft suspension. Not great as standard and worse with age. Our van ran gti dampers.

+1 to change to VT* brakes, standard 1.1 are crap.

I thought the vans had the vented setup anyway?

Iv got the standard brakes from my 206. 247mm, I think the discs are exactly the same as a vtr/s. So the calipers will have the correct offset/fitment.

Would sell the calipers for £20 plus postage it you want them?

I've got exactly the same problem. Upgraded the discs to 266mm ones from a 206 GTi and its much better. Now looking to upgrade the MC from the standard 19mm to a bigger one. Just not sure if to go for 23mm as I've heard they blow the back brakes might stick with the 20.64mm from a VTR. Check out this link it covers pretty much anything you need
