I have two Mutant X NW69SPX 6x9 speakers with no wires or anything, just wondered if someone knew what kind of wire i need and how to connect them up? A mate said there are 2 ways, one is to piggy back them to the rear speakers which i dont know if that will stop the rears from working, and the other way is to direct them straight to the stereo? Electrics aint my strong point so any advice would be appreciated, cheers!

You can extend the wires from the existing rear speakers, but I wouldn't wire them with the rear speakers aswell as that would sound crap.
Best thing to do is run 2 new wires from the back of the headunit to wherever your 6x9s are, but this would also eliminate your existing speakers in the rear, as you would use those outputs for the 6x9s.
If that made any sense lol.
Wouldn't bother though, 6x9s aren't brill and Mutant isn't a good make.

Sub in the boot, decent components in the front doors. That's all you need.
6 x 9s are terrible

First of all, six by nines aren't terrible, I've said this time and time again, I'd rather a decent set of 6x9's than a cheap set of components. People need to stop jumping on the band wagon.
Second of all, wrong forum! Lol

Where have we recommended a set of cheap components? I'd rather a set of decent components over a set of decent 6x9s.

Most of my cars have had 6x9's and i have never had an issue with them.. Then again, I'm not a music lover, its only ever loud if I'm having a sing along, or if someone else wants it on a bit louder..
For OP.. Don't piggy back off rears, as it will just sound awful..
Go and get an amp wiring kit, or buy one off ebay or somewhere... Just type in "car amp wiring kit" and plenty will come up..
Run the RCA cable from the Headunit to the amp in the boot, Positive to the + of the battery, Earth to a decent bare metal earth point in the boot.. Then run speaker wire, from your 6x9's to the amp.. + to +, - to - from speakers to amp.. Sorted!

No mention of an amp fella...
6x9s are wank. Been there done it seen the however if your just looking to make a bit of noise that sounds ok then your in. There are better ways to make much more noise and in clarity but that's for another day
Two schools of thought here. One is that I would replace all the standard wiring with better gear but then again that points back at not using 6x9's
In your position I would disconnect the rear speaker, snip the connector off and extend the writing from theree through to the parcel shelf for your 6x9s. Replace your parcel shelf with some MDF acoustic carpet over it, will cost your less than 20 quid and will make a difference
The standard rear speakers are 10cm and not worth a shit anyway (rear speakers are worthless but again that's a different arguement). To get to them you need o remove the whole rear door card which is an easy task. Ram or the rear bench, pull the door seal and window seal out the w ay and you can start to pop the door card off towards you and then manipulate the door card out from under the parcel shelf support (or take it out but it's not necessary done it mny times) unplug the standard speaker, snip the end off and use any kind of connector or solder the new speaker wire on.
Any kind of speaker wire will do for what you are after

Also this is general chat so i guess this post falls under that? barely come on here and i couldnt care less if theres a particular forum for a certain thread ;)

All you need is some standard speaker cable. You'll only need a metre or 2 if you just cut the rear speaker wire and connect them to that.
