Hi
Have just acquired a 52 plate vtr which im hoping to have some fun with on track days.
Im starting to strip out the inside this week and want to no what airbags are in the car and any hints on getting them out.

Disconnect the battery for around 15-20 mins before you think about touching any airbags

I there's one in the steering wheel one in front of the passenger and some in the two front seats.

no ^
there should only be one in the steering wheel. Some vts's and rarely some vtr's have an airbag instead of the glovebox.
Theres also the seatbelt pre tensioners in the 2 front seats which are a part of the same system. The plugs are under the seats.
As said, disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes or so before disconnecting anything

thanks, the last thing i want is them going off on a track.
Once ive taken them out is there a chance they will interfere with ecu of Waring lights coming on

The air bag light will come on I think. If its a track car though I wouldn't worry

Not any more, this was changed a few months ago. That is now a fail.
Also, a VTS that new will have drivers air bag, passenger and an airbag in each front seat. That's how it left the factory.
Removing the airbag ECU along with all airbag wiring should put the light out.

I think the same goes for EML now as well :n:

Thankfully I have no issues with that one, I'd be a bit more concerned considering I bought the airbag light on myself haha :)

you can remove the airbag ecu under the carpet/dash and that will remove the light completely. I think that will pass an mot if you have an aftermarket wheel as you cant fail something that's not there?? will have to check on that though.
Or another way is to solder a 3ohm resistor in place of where the airbag will go (or under the seats if youre disconnecting them too) The resistor will make it think its all still connected as it should be, so the light will come on and turn off as normal

I'll probably take that route, as its more feasible :y:
