Just wanted to know what people think, and if anyone has driven it for themselves. Also wondering if anyone knows anything about the 'T16' version?

the T16 is a one off I think, would be good if they made a road going version.

People seem to be forgetting, the 208 weighs only a tad more than a 106 (my 106 is 1050Kg), and the 208 GTI has 200HP! Now we all know how fast a 106 is with only 120hp.

also, no torsion bars. and it's good on fuel and cheap on road tax.

what's not to like? it's a bit squished but it'll grow on you when you see it hands on. it's not tall and skinny as everyone makes it out to be.

Was going to test drive one, but I've no money haha!

A road worthy T16 would be insane it's got crazy HP!

I think for the size/general look of the car the weight isn't too bad, i'm guessing its hard to beat the weight of a 106 lol.

Without even reading the mag reviews, the Fiesta will rape it in every test.

That said, i had a test drive of one this morning. Its actually a great feeling car, more communicativw than the 207 in both steering and clutch (which massively let down the 207 imo). Pretty quick though a bit deceptive as the engine doesnt feel revvy or peaky - characteristic of modern turbos i suppose. Handling is pretty decent, loads of feedback and helps make the car feel smaller and lighter than it is.

Its not close to a drivers car like hatches of old, but with the focus on economy, safety and all the toys being included, we'll never see that breed of true drivers cars again.

I dont like the look of the front of it, prefer the ST

I like the way it looks personally, and I like the subtle references to the original 205 GTi like the rear quarter badge and interior trims.

Well, they did build T16 205, but the road going version of that was 200hp?

Absolutely love it. But (and I grant you it's a lot "more" car than a 106) it's £8k more than I paid for my 106 gti... £20k buys you a lot of car if you're prepared to buy a 6-12 month old "something else".

Not too keen on the looks of the ST myself, but then again i'm not too keen on the general look of new hatchbacks

According to Evo, the Clio is marginally faster. The Fiesta ST is near as dammit on a par with it, and £2000 cheaper.

And better all round it seems.

ST is shit, the clutch has no feel to it.

Clio has a horrible gearbox, it's all notchy.

Lets face it, it's probably the same engine in the Ford and the Pug. Just like the HDi engines.

Pretty much every grouptest is saying the same thing. From the initial pics and specs of the Fiesta ST I suspected that this time round Ford would do it right.

New Clio seems too grown up, too heavy and too expensive. The Pug is competant in all areas but still a tad soft for refinement and lacks the old-school sparkle the brand used to produce.. But it looks like the Ford is great in all areas and puts the biggest smile on your face for the smallest price tag.

The French boys used to be the kings of the small hot-hatch in the previous decade. Now its the turn for the blue oval.

Mates got a none gti

Sais he's had nothing but problems with the electrics, suspension, and all sorts of others things

Been in to pug about 3 times to fix the radio/satnav and still not fixed

Couldn't get it to turn off at one point lol! I like them, he's not really one to slate cars but he knows his way round one, advised against going near one

I've been sat in a new Fiesta ST and it really impressed me.
Visually I didn't think much of it on images, but when I seen it in the flesh I was just taken back. It's an incredibly nice looking car and as the guy said in that video, it sounds divine for a standard exhaust.
And as a passenger I really noticed that it was good with torque. I'm not sure on its figure but it felt a lot more powerful then you would expect.

I'd own the ST I'm trying to get my mom to buy one whether she will or not I'd another matter. I like it as its still reasonable in size say compared to my 182 and the colours they come in are nice. Looks like she may get a 5 door one though when its out
