Cleaning Black Cars

They look lovely when clean but look awful as soon as they become dirty. Apart from my car having a "few" stone chips, etc... on the bonnet, are there any different/better products you or other people could recommend to keep the black looking black as I'm sure it's the worse car colour to try and keep clean...?

I dont persoally have a black car but so many of my mates do. Has to be worse colour , dirt shows up so much more for some reason and always seems to be faded. But like you say when clean look the best.

I dont know of any products that would be better!:(!

i have the same problem as damo, having a black car it shows up dirt really easily, but looks the nuts when it is clean. how much is that JEFFS Werkstatt stuff cost that you used on the BMW as i am interested.

also, whenever i finish washing my car and dry it with my leather, the car has loads of swirl marks on it. i have got some turtle wax stuff (cant remember what its called off the top of my head) that is supposed to help remove swirl marks and some other bits. it doesnt do a perfect job as when you look at the car in the light you can see the marks still. what product/s would you recommend to help remove swirl marks as i hate them!! thanks

i get swirl marks too, polishing tends to improve but takes alot of time and effort :sad:




know any products that dont attract dust? the moment i park her up the dust jumps on the car :sad:

The full Werkstatt acrylic system is approx £47 delivered, and comprises a basecoat cleanser, a pure spray sealant and a quick detailer that also adds sealant protection. Swirls mainly arise from bad wash products and bad wash techniques - read these guides for a full run down on causes/removal.

Both Citreon and Seat paint is quite hard, and correcting swirls by hand will be very difficult. The way to go is Menzerna Intensive Polish applied using the white side of a German Applicator Pad. It will take hard work, but the results that can be achieved will significantly improve the finish. You can also add a glaze to enhance the gloss and fill any remaining swirls - the effect lasts 3-4 months at a time if you seal the finish properly afterwards with a good wax/sealant. Best glaze we do is Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish.
