I want to remove the spare wheel cage is there anyway of doing this with out completely wrecking it or is it a case of once it’s off its never going back on again?
What the deal when it comes to Mot’s will they impressed that I have a spare wheel just plonked in the back seat or will they not care where it is as long as I have one?
One last thing, can anything de done with the hole that will be left by the removal of the cage? I’m only after a temporary measure so I don’t want to weld a plate over it or anything permanent like that.
I’m pretty sure Matt Westy has done this so if know ones knows I can ask him when he’s online.
Cheers
Steve

you do not need a spare tyre to pass an mot at all as clio sports dont come with em. All u need is tyre foam. also , u could protect the hole with rust protection and sealant and pop a rubber grommit inside the hole.

when I took mine out I had to jack the car fairly high as the frame needs to be straight down for you to move it into the position it needs to be in to remove

Yeah loose the cage, i've not had a cage or spare wheel for the past 3 years. Tyre foam is all you need (and a bit of emergancy cash if you do need a spare).

Ive been told you have to fully flip the cage round, so it is like facing the front of the car and then it jst slides off...... Never tried though.
Although if you get stuck jst get the bolt cutters out ! :y:

you don't need a spare to pass a mot, but if it is there it does have to be legal

i just cut the bastard then pulled the remaining bits out and as for the hole just pop a rubber grommit in there
