Handbrake

is getting the shitty plastic handbrake thing
off the same as the gear knob? jus pull
till it comes off

No as far as i no u use a standley knife to it off straight down from 1 end to the other!! If ur unsure either have a look or buy the Haynes Saxo book its got lots of how to guides in there!! Theres sum how to guides on this site not sure if thats on or not i aint looked!!

You can pull it off but is very hard, I took my one off like that but with a small screwdriver to help. I would advise to cut it off if you are not considering putting it back on the car at a later date but even then you should be able to get another one quite easily from scrapyard or even citroen.
