So I've been going to the gym for a few months now, noticed some half decent gains. I've been training all my muscle groups and putting in some cardio like twice a week.

I'm a fairly big guy anyway and I feel I need to shred up a little bit more. My current progress is good and I am losing weight and still gaining muscle. I am eating well too so not expecting to shred up and still eating crap.

Are there supplements out there that can help recovery but also burn fat? I know there are fat burning pills etc. but I can't swallow tablets so I could only do powder.

I know Olympia do a diet whey which is something I've been contemplating.

I'm not too clued up on the different types of proteins either, where to get them from and the reliability of them.

I am by no means an expert in this field but I would suggest nailing your diet more than anything tbh.

A healthy balanced diet mixed up with cardio should do the trick. Naturally you are going to get heavier from lifting weights but that should be in the form of muscle and not fat.

If you are after suppliments, although I am unsure as to what would server your purpose, I hear a lot of talk about http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk and a few here have signatures to give you discount.

Literally just edited my post as you posted yours I think haha. My diet is pretty clean at the moment and I have lost 20lbs in the time I've been doing this. I've cut out 95% of white bread, pasta and rice, cereals, crisps, sweets/chocolate. I drink green tea and porridge for breakfast. Pasta, rice or a sandwich for lunch with a bit of fruit and maybe a fat free yogurt then whatever mother does for tea which is usually fairly healthy.

I've started cycling quite a bit the last 10 days as well and hope to keep it up. Going to start cycling to work as well so doing probably 15 miles a day.

I'm happy to stay as I am but wondered if there was anything to speed up the process.

Cheers

So you haven't really sorted your diet out have you... Why don't you just look up a proper diet plan and go from there? Sure you cut out junk food, which will mean less calories, hence weight loss, but doesn't sound like you replaced them with good or the right calories. Maybe you did, just not very specific. Anyway, as you have only just started, you do not need supplements yet. Sort a proper diet.

I mean you said you cut out pasta, rice etc, yet it is your lunch? Also, where is the protein? Carbs for brek, carbs for lunch, "healthy" for tea? Wtf is healthy??

Chill out mate, fucking hell. Clearly someones rattled your cage.

I have cut out white carbs, so what I eat for lunch (BEFORE MY WORKOUT) is brown pasta, rice or bread. My protein comes in the form of chicken, beef or fish which I have for tea every night with veg and in my lunch, eg. chicken/rice, chicken/bacon (no rind) pasta, beef sandwich, tuna pasta etc. I am also eating berries when I can, problem is being a student waiting for my job to start I can't afford to go buy packs of berries every day.

I've 'only just started' so don't need supplements. So once I'm at my target weight then I am gonna use weight loss supplements, right....? Or not.

I think you may have taken his advice as an arsey reply when it wasn't. He was merely asking for more specifics.

List out your daily diet including measurements.

Work out how many calories you need in order to burn fat.

Write down your body statistics

Write down your exercise regime in detail.

If you can't do any of this off the top of your head then you need some serious research time. There are no magic pills. Keep to the basics

Guys I'm asking if that Olympia whey is any good or if there are any similar supplements that aren't in tablet form?

I am content with my diet. To begin with I went too extreme, probably similar to your guys diets, and 'fell off the rails' as it were. Now I eat normal size portions of relatively healthy food. Okay I could cut the carbs a little more, okay I could cram in some more high protein foods but then again I wouldn't be as happy with my diet and be more likely to slouch back to a normal 18 year olds diet. I am losing body fat so clearly I'm doing something right but I just want to know if there is anything that can speed up the process, not related to diet.

I'm not trying to look as if I've been sculpted from stone, I just want to lose my wobbly bits and get a bit more definition in places. I understand that unless I have a strict diet and exercise regime I'm never gonna be shredded but that isn't what I want to be anyway.

Main key, eat less than you burn.. If you are set on losing weight, go to the gym, maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and do 40 minutes running, 30 minutes on cross trainer, 30 minutes on bikes.. That should burn a fair whack of what you're eating every day..

I by no means eat healthy, i still got to mcdonalds, kfc, out for lunch with mates to wetherspoons and order the all day breakfast.. My only thing is, i get up most days at 7AM, have weatabix or porridge, then run 4-6 miles, then go to the gym, do my weight training, then do maybe 20 minutes on the bikes or cross trainer..

Just for an example..

Thats what i got from week 0-16, 10lb loss..

As for supplements to make you lose weight, i don't really believe anything will help drop weight THAT much, just because you're taking it.. It might complement your diet, and make you need less calories with each meal, but i can't see it dropping weight from you

This is what I need to hear! If this is definitely true.

I do know people who are on those fat shred tablet things but not too close to them as to ask how they are getting on.

Good progress for you though, well done! :clapping: From where you started to where you are now I've probably made the same change but body (fat) wise I am probably just a bit more than your before.

Calories in < calories out.

Exercise + above formula + dedication + time + patience =goal achieved.

For what you want to achieve, it sounds like you need to carry on as you are and be patient.

as said above is whats needed, cut down the carbs MORE if you want to lose abit quicker

and ill save you money now, no fat burners from suppliment sites work

when you are ready you can research an ECA stack, which is over the counter but pills

or go all out and get the proper fat burners, clen & t3's lol

Fat loss = Energy In (Food) Energy Out (Calories Burned) Not enough calories (Energy Consumed) then the body loses Water' Fat and Muscle. = Weight Loss. Obviously you want minimal muscle loss so consume protein during the diet. Meats like chicken etc are very low on carbs. Almost zero.

Some people frown upon this idea but give yourself a day to have a treat. 6/7 is good enough and you wont get that crash some people get knocking out them foods.

Just eat reasonable. This maybe a bit OTT but i tracked my weight loss with an online graph and kept a basic record of calories burned. Bit much for some but it became a daily routine and 6 month later = 3 Stone lighter. Im now on a decent diet higher in calories and lifting weight and i skateboard for cardio.

Big difference to n my body. I sometimes have a look and say yeah hard work but my health is so perfect now and a decent body.

Worth that work. You and only you can do it. Best of luck

Why is the bit in bold relevant? 1g or protein and 1g of carb contain the same number of calories, so for pure weight loss it doesn't matter.
