Ok done loads of searching on here and over on 106 owners and from what I've read if I use the 406 brembo calipers Wich I have just purchased I can use the 406 pads and will need the xantia v6 disks.

So do the xantia disks come drilled and grooved

Will the calipers and the 283mm disks fit on 306 gti6 wheels or do I need spacers?

If need bigger wheels do they need to be 16s

Thanks

20mm spacers with gti6 cyclones

Most people fit the likes of 1.2 td wheels in 16 format to ensure they clear correctly

Cool Thanks for the fast reply mate.
Bit of a silly question but as I'm using the 406 brembos on the front what about the rears sure I heard the standards wil be fine???

Yeah the rears will be fine.

Best bet is to fit new braided lines front and rear, flush the complete system with new fluid and ensure the rear are adjusted correctly

Some people say you need to change the mc others don't think it does.
All depends how you want your brake pedal to feel

Ye I was thinking about the master cylinder is the 406 pretty much a straight fit in the 106? Thanks

You need to make sure of two things.

The number of outlets are the same as you have on your 106
The mounting holes are in the same place as done are off set.

If your 106 has abs and your keeping it then you will need a two port mc

Not too sure about the abs yet I've heard a few have done away with this, but why do people do this never asked lol

Just makes the braking better when on track, with abs in place you find it kicking on under hard braking in to corners which is t the best to happen.

If you ditch it, you have to remove the complete system, all the pokerwork, all the e tricks etc or its an mot failure

Sounds complicated lol. May just leave the 106 master cylinder on.
Thanks for all your help fella much appreciated :)

Well you can fit a 2 port abs mc from a 406 if you want a bigger mc and not remove the abs, also the xantia discs will be grooved and drilled if you buy them in that spec but I'd just got for OEM plain discs if it was me, there's conflicting stories on what discs to use though the xantia v6, gti6 and 206 180 discs all fit but some say some squeal due to a slightly wrong offset other people say certain ones don't squeal

Cheers mate ye I've heard everyone that's done this have the issue with the squeeling and looks like that's made more peoe go towards the xantia disks.
The squeeling would piss me off lol.

It's not just down to the discs used its also to do with the pad compound

Even on the 406 v6 coupe the brakes squel if any thing other than genuine Peugeot / galfer pads are used

The discs you want are 288 not 283.

why 288's may I ask over 283's?

i used 206 gti180 disks, fitted perfectly centred in the caliper, i wasnt entirely happy with them tbh. with my compomotives i needed 17mm spacers and with no pas it was terrible,
even with a new set of the standard 406 pads it was hard to keep them at temperature, which as a daily drive isnt ideal. unless you drive to work like lewis hamilton.

i wouldnt use the brembos again tbh, the positives for me outweigh the benefits. especially when you consider how much lighter you can get hispecs and the likes for.

why 288's may I ask over 283's?

because 283 is too small and also too narrow :zainy:

its the c5/xantia 288x28 ones you want, Tarox do a G88 disc that is said to help against squealing.

however given that they are no lighter than a gti6 caliper and disc pairing and cost so much more, and are more of a faff to find wheels that fit, I really wouldn't bother.

bollocks.
After all the research I have done trying to find out what discs I need, theres another conflicting opinion.

How come a lot of people have fitted 283's without many problems?

I too have done loads of research and found that the 283mm disks need to be used.

I have the brembo's with ferodo pads and 283 xantia v6 discs.
They squeal when the pads are worn, new pads no squeal.

Brill thanks for your input mate good to hear where did you purchase your 406 ferodo pads from?
