Hi i am 19 years old, have a full uk driving licence for two years in october, i drive a 1.1i saxo, i have 0 NCB and my insurance is stupid!
This is how it works:
I have had dodgy insurance in the past which worked well but wante to start building ncb so as far as insurase know this is my first policy, i have been with elephant for 3 months, it all started well with a annual premium of £1300 which compaired to 4000+ to other companys that i had chance to check, so phoned elephant and because i couldnt afford a one off payment i went monthly which increased it to £1800, roughly £190 PCM, i was happy with this as it was next to nothing deposit and i was on yhe road with a 6 minute phone call ! (I was overal happy with this) would have liked it cheaper who wouldn't ?
So this is when it went down hill 2months in they asked me for copy of driving card licence and paper, i sent that and theydound out about my 3points i did not declair because they was from when i had dodgy insurance soni didnt want to tell them because as fat as they know i have never been insured, it was for not following road instructions (entering a no entry sign) and well anyway that bump my policy up to £2800!!!! :@ and roughly that is £268 PCM i am atill using them at the moment but i cant afford that for ever!
So does anybody have any ideas what to do? In my situation :( i need either a cheaper company or a company that wont ask for my recoreds maybe? Any advice ? Like im 19 now in october will have held my licence for two years, got to wait for another 3 years efore my points are dropped, its a steep price considering with dodgy insurance i was paying 700 on a 2L subaru turbo at 17! Which i was using this (dodgy guy) for well over a year (but he dissapeared off te market either fruad in prisonment or got on top) but yeah they wonder why people do things the dodgy way, !!! The price is stupid! Makes me want to go back to dodgy and forget a NCD but i want to do it properly does anybody know better company or so on? And will it cost to cancel my currect policy? 4months in thanks
Kind regards

Dont take offence by this but I think you should be paying the consequences of driving illegally in the first place. You've been caught with 3 points and its also an offence to not disclose them to your insurer.
Not entirely sure what you mean by 'dodgy' insurance, but it doesn't sound legal either way. Deal with it like the rest of us and it will come down given time and patience.
You need to live with your mistakes dude.

Everyone else has paid thier dues, you drive wank cars you build up a NCB and get a better car. Only way to do it unless you've got cash, which you don't.
Get a box thing fitted and put up with it.

Your fault for not declaring from the start, if you had legal insurance at 17 you wouldn't be paying that now.

When i was 18, i had 11 points, I paid through the nose.. Now all have gone, but i acquired 9 more, I am again, paying a lump.. Deal with it..
You lied to insurance, lucky they haven't declined it!

That's why they ask for you license so you can't lie, you tried to deceive your insurance company. Idiot, they should give you more points imo

It's not going to be long before the insurance companies will be able to link in directly with the DVLA, you will be asked at the time of completing your application by phone/online for the driver number of yourself & any others on the policy.
They will link in with DVLA before confirming cover to confirm licence type, how long its been held and any current endorsements. You won't be able to get away with not declaring. Saves time for general joe public having to send copies to insurers on request aswel.
It's about time too

10 days is too long, you should have got it sorted before then so there will be little sympathy from me and most others. One day over because you forgot is slightly acceptable (although I still don't see how) but 10 days means you knew in my opinion and drove without it.

As a car owner it's your responsibility to be up to date with tax, mot and insurance, for which you do get a reminder. Not sure why others should be labelled as vaginas because of your own wrongdoings.

To the guy that originally made this thread;
Its cause of idiots like you that think your above the law that the rest of us have to pay the price for!
Your damn right you should be paying for what you did, and im probably paying for it too!
Stick with the law and you wouldnt have any issues, build a bridge and deal with your actions! :)

Nah you dont know the full story dude. Insurance was in my dad's name, i wasnt living with my dad at the time and didnt speak often. Was only when i got stopped that i realised it was out of date, AFTER handing it to the cop who asked to see papers, lol.

So the car was yours but the insurance was in your dad's name and you wasn't living at the address it was insured to? If you were the main driver and the insurance wasn't in your name then that voids the insurance anyway. Ignorance is no excuse.

Some shit? Like Mr Hankey from South Park?
Im guessing you did well at School....
You did something wrong, you pay for it. Fairly certain I ran a red light yesterday, completely my fault and I will pay the £60 fine and accept the 3 points if it comes through in the post. I won't call them 'cunts' for something which I did wrong.
Luckily I am old enough and have enough NCB that it won't affect my insurance ;). The people who do things wrong to try and save money or get out of paying, always end up paying more in the long run.

Not all youngsters drive uninsured. Hiding behind a made up bullshit excuse that translates as "everyone's done it so I can" adds another layer to showing a complete lack of responsibility, and a total disregard for it. Makes me wonder how long you would have been going without insurance if the cops didn't cancel your ass. You chanced it, you lost and had it coming. No sympathy here as people like you put my premium price up.

you had no insurance in the first place. Whether it had expired or not doesn't make any difference at all. Cunts, knob, cock, dick what a careful selection of words. So I guess everyone is a utter pillock, except you :y:
Genuinely didnt know it had expired.
lmao, clearly not your fault then is it.

You mean, the police illegally cancelled you licence for driving someone else's car on someone else's expired insurance policy? And also that your father ignored the reminder letter, thus allowed you to drive his vehicle knowing that it is uninsured?
Pull the other one son.

If you're driving a car it is YOUR responsibility to check whether it is insured not anyone elses. Also if you were using the car as a primary driver and you were insured as an additional party on the policy then it could also be voided in the first place.
