I've been forced to take 4 weeks off from the gym due to having a bad case of tendinosis in my elbow... I've went back today and I'm extremely weak :geek: I didn't even think it was possible to loose so much strength in a few weeks.
So the thing is, have any of you had time off like this and how long did it take to get back up to strength and back into things? Feeling really down about it lol

Yeah 2 weeks out the gym and felt weak as cat piss afterwards, I think a lot of it was my mental state as well, i convinced myself I was weaker...
After 1-2 weeks I'm lifting the same as before pretty much....

Its always the way every time you going on holiday or have anytime away from training you come back and your weaker in everyway :/ I got this coming soon had a shoulder injury for the last 5 months and only been training legs abs and cardio so I've probably lost about 70ish% of my upper body strength!!

It'll be almost fully back by next week or the week after in my experience. Might be a rep or two down for the next few weeks though. Muscle memory really does exhist lol.
I hate myself when I skip a day nevermind a few weeks! Can't help an injury though.

How odd, I had 3 weeks off before and I went back stronger than ever... To be honest, after 2/3 weeks your body should be fully healed and rested up...
That said, I've not been to the gym for months now, was also forced to take time off and I'll be going back within a week or two, so I'm expecting to be nothing short of pitiful.

I work a pretty physical job so I always keep a bit in reserve at the gym. I've got next week off so an going to completely destroy myself. Cannot wait. It'd be torture to skip the gym at the moment for me.

Bit different mostly do cardio due to training for army, but after a fortnight off to a filthy lung infection, it took me about another 3 weeks just to be able to return to my previous state

it is mental how your mind state can change at times... like i wouldn't of missed a gym session for nobody!
However recently I welcomed any plans to keep me from going, just got my head back on for it if i'm honest!!
Can't live without it when i'm back in the zone, and you do feel soo much better about yourself..

I know what you lads mean about mental state and muscle memory. Whilst I've had a break from the gym I've been feeling like shit. Eating ok but drinking too much. I've felt worse cos I done my injury at work not the gym (I fit coach windscreens so its very heavy work) so maybe thats a factor. Tomorrow is back day... fingers crossed its all sorted as I cant stand not training.

I haven't been for 3 weeks and 2 of them was drinking every night lol,
I'm alot weaker this week back but I think it'll take me another week or so to get back to my normal limits, I can lift the same just not as many reps :(
