Hi gents

What a great forum. I have been reading with interest.

I'm mid 30's now but always fancied a VTS! I've had nearly 65 personal cars, including M3's, P1's, Audi's, BMW's etc etc. I'm a bit of an oracle for cars! My favourite was my E30 M3 which I owned/restored over 6 years. One I shouldn't have sold....

My current stable includes a completely restored Honda Integra Type R DC2, a daily Accord Type R and now a Saxo VTS! About the car....

I just bought the car yesterday from it's first and only owner (now mid 40's)
It's a MK1 in Silver with only 66K on the clock!
It's been garaged for the last 17 years and is MINT (and I'm fussy)
The interior is literally as new and completely unmarked
The car has the most ridiculous service history ever, with every single receipt, MOT, emissions print out, original purchase invoice, brochures, colour charts, tax discs, spare keys etc
It's been serviced maybe 16 times in 66K (Citroen up to 2008)
It's completely original

I drove it back to London from Somerset yesterday over some 145 miles. I am still shocked and in awe of just how good the chassis and steering feel are! It's an incredible little machine, and the engine pulls like a bloody VTEC! I love it.

There are some issues however;

Cambelt was done by Citroen at 31K and in about 2004 - I've gone and ordered genuine belt, tensioner, idler, waterpump, coolant and drive belt plus thermostat from Citroen who were giving them away

Brakes are knackered with really crumbly front discs - I think I'll go Euro here since I like the anti corrosion paint on their discs - Citroen did be a really big discount on their discs and pads (again static stock they are trying to flog off)

Misfire at idle - this is a strange on. Throughout the rev range it's absolutely amazing, but back at idle you get the occasional misfire which seems to get worse when the fans running?! I've bought some NGK BKR6EZ which I'll be fitting and torquing this morning when it stops raining!

Interestingly enough the current owner just put a new coil pack on but it was some cheapo from ebay at around £55 and called 'Motor force' or something?! I'm half tempted to put a genuine one on as I really don't like ebay cheap parts (anyone know where to get a genuine coil at a good price?).

I'll post some pics in a moment but look forward to being part of this thoroughly enthusiastic forum!

Cheers all

Rez

P.s - It's also completely unmarked and completely rot free, even underneath! It's never been used in winter!

VTR Wheels, look in good nick though. Spoilers missing, but that's down to personal taste really.

I'd get some colour coded mirror caps if you can find them, just to smarten it up a bit.

Other than that, clean! Pic of the engine bay?

It's an early one, so that is exactly as it would've come.

Looks clean.

Easiest one I've seen, if bang a spoiler and mirror caps on just to give it a face lift.
