Hi my gearbox is worn out and needs replacing (gearbox diff gone) however I have no discovered another issue. When driving slowly or applying the break and slowing down you hear and feel a loud crunching noise from the front wheels. it hard to explain but the wheels do a full revolution then crunch twice, then another full revolution then another two crunches. Trying to get car sorted so I can sell it on the basis the gearbox is the only item needing replacement, but if its not too expensive to fix I might do this myself. What could be causing this?

Thanks

oh ok, in the past had a similar symptom and it was down to cv boot? guessing driveshaft. The gearbox oil has never been changed so if I flush out the old oil and refill with new would that help dampen the noise for when I sell the car? Of course im going to tell them the gearbox is broke and needs replacing which it will say In the ad but the crunching is off putting loud. Just thought new oil lubricating the parts will soften it a bit.

If say your right, gearbox problems are probably giving you some driveshaft issues. You could replace the oil as it might help all depends how bad the damage is?
