Hello,
My name is Ricardo, Iīm from the North of Portugal, I have a 1996 Mk1 Saxo 1.6 16V VTS owned from new, itīs in great condition, it has around 65.000 miles and it is totally original.
Actually, only made two modifications, the front grill was replaced by the Mk2 which has a bit larger air intake and itīs more efficient to reduce engine temperature (still have the original grill in storage), and a bar that connects the two front suspension mounts (I donīt know how you call it).
Nowadays it only drives around 600 miles per year, since I have other cars and my time is not much to drive it. But I still love to drive it after all these years and hopefully I will never have to sell it.
I know the weather in England is not as warm as in Portugal, but in the summer my car has always had the tendency to have the water temperature above the medium scale of the temperature gauge even with the car on the move at a normal speed, and comparing to other cars, I always had the impression that the car is constantly overheating, but I never had any problem with head gaskets and so on. Does anyone have the same impression about this or is it just my car? I thought about using another anti freezer liquid, and I was told that there is a liquid called MOCOOL from MOTUL, that keeps temperature a bit lower than common anti freezers. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Regards,
Ricardo
