Ok so took my forte 1.1 out for the first time tonight I knew the steering was heavy but I had to get some petrol in the poor thing it was thirsty so heres my in need of help.
Step dad checked the power steering fluid and it is full so could it be pump or belt and whats best to do replace ourselves or take it to a garage?
other thing I don't have a manual with the car and in the little clock/ mileage electric part of my dash I have a little spanner what does this mean?
I really don't have a clue lol thanks guys.

Removing the spanner - service. you can just remove it anyway if you wish

As above saxo`s have electric pas, not belt driven.

Its worth checking to see if the charge rate is as it should be,if its failing the pas will stop working.

Best to check the fuse for the pump first.
However if it's only the pas that isn't working if say the pump has had it.
Could try tapping it with a hammer. Might get it going again for a while. But not a permant fix.

Are you sure it's got powersteering? I had a 1.1 forte as my first car and it didn't have it so I assumed the forte model is manual.
