View Full Version : Swapping front seat covers? How?!

Was always under the assumption that this was an easy task to swap the runners etc of a drivers front seat to a passenger side front seat. This now seems impossible as the frame is completely different.
So the covers and padding seem identical and thought that would be an easy swap. Base of the seat yes very easy, back of the seat absolutely impossible.
Before I completely destroy the seat in a fit of rage is there an easy way of doing this?

Just take if off so it comes off inside out, it will have a load of hog rings holding it in place which you need to split. Once they come off it's pretty easy. I had a knackered seat when I bought my Saxo and I just swapped covers.

There's several of those stupid metal rings, the only way to remove them seems to be to cut it off. What do I do when putting it back together?

I just slipped pliers in and unbent them so I could re-use them when I put the cover back on. The hog rings help the seat cover fit the shape of the foam so I would recommend either reusing them or buying new ones and putting them back where they where taken off!

I just bent them with pliers and squeezed them back in. They are a proper twat.

As said just bend them, complete pain in the arse.

Cheers Wassy, Will be nice to get the seat sorted. Interiors coming along nicely so this seat will finish it off nicely.
