Hello I'm new to this site but I've owned a saxo about a couple of.months and fine a few little mods to it :P and its now time I did an engine conversion:)
Loads of people have said drop a gti6 in but others said seriously tune the standard engine :s if you could help or come up up with any ideas that would be great
As its now time to start the project
Thanks Liam

what are your expectations? With enough money spent and forced induction some people are pushing over 400/500bhp from their 16v engines

These questions have already been asked. Time to hit the search button and start reading....

I've not heard of the GTI 6 conversion before. Brakes maybe but not engines. I believe there's too much work involved for it to be a viable option.
Do you currently have a VTR or VTS? I'd drop a VTS in which is an easy job then tune that up. It'll still be quick.

Turbo or supercharge it. Read some of the build threads and you will get a good idea as to how much you require for a big bhp car. Stick with the VTR and add boost.

When you say it beats a vts, you're not one of these people that comes on forums asking for advice on how to beat their mate in a VTS in a street race are you?
VTR is an ideal base for a turbo install as above. Look on Blackie's thread for inspiration.

Vts engine then boost. Bhp you want = £££ you have.
Can get 450-500hp out of the 1.6 vts lump - with deep pockets.
If you're heart is set on an engine and gearbox swap, look at the 20v VAG lumps. Mega tunable. Won't be cheap either tho.

I know of a decent 1.8T lump out an A3 thats being broken for parts. If you have the cash drop a donor saxo over to us and I'll get Chris to build it. He needs a winter project or two.

And if you want to go balls out on the vag lump, take it to my engine builder - JNL Racing - one of the worlds foremost experts on high power vag stuff.

Depends on what figures your looking for and what the car is used for.
VTR standard 98bhp, cammed 120bhp ish, throttle bodied 140ish bhp
VTS standard 120bhp, cammed 140 - 160ish bhp, throttle bodied 180ish bhp
if you want more then turbo is the way to go
If you want quicker acceleration then you need a shorter ratio box.
