Hi, I bought this S3 at the beginning of the week. It was far from immaculate so I put it in my unit straight away and got to work on it. Today I finished and put it on the road. There's no before photos but it was pretty neglected in its previous ownership. I've got a list of things that need doing to it but I did get it for a very reasonable price so it was expected. Here's what's been done to it since Monday:
Plugs
Air filter
Oil Filter
Pollen filter
Fuel filter
Oil
New tax disc holder
Cruise control stalk installed
LED side light bulbs
After that it got a clean, not a full detail as it needs some paintwork so that will come after winter. This is what was done:
Rinse
Snow foam
Hand Wash
Iron-X full car
Hand wash
Dried
SSR 2.5 Hand polish
2 x Dodo juice layers
1 x Collonite 845 (front end)
Wheels removed - arches cleaned, hubs painted
Wheels cleaned with Iron-x & Bilberry
Trims treated with Auto-finesse
Plastics/panels/engine bay treated with Aerospace 303
Tyres dressed
Final wipe with Meg's last touch
Full interior leather clean D.R leather products

Cheers mate, took a lot of effort to get it semi clean like. It does need a full correction after winter though. Took me and JAM pretty much 8 hours today on the cleaning side of it

I'm after a new car and I was torn between the facelift one of these and TTS, but I decided I don't need practical so I'm just waiting for a nice TTS to come up with all the options am after. What made you go manual over DSG?

Haha, the interior needs some more attention and it will need some rotary magic from Jam. Its a bit smaller than we thought, however my saxo may end up going completely if it does then there will be space. We need a catch up mate!

Cheers mate, this was my second choice in color I ideally wanted the dark blue they do but seem to be as rare as hens teeth!

The asking price was quite a bit lower than some others around and I managed to get a further £700 off that. So I'm essentially happy to spend £700 on it from the start for what needs doing which should cover it all. It has full audi service history and it was stamped from just over 3000 miles ago but that was over a year ago too so I thought id best get all that done. The engine & turbo have only actually done 12,000miles they were replaced in 2011 at an Audi dealership.
Very nice. My cousin has one the same colour. Love it!

Plans are to get a stage 1 revo map sometime around march I imagine. I want a new HPFP & filter setup first. Im torn between what to do because from there a turbo back system can see me to a stage 2 map but for a little over 1K for a Miltek turbo back that might have to wait. Revo claim 300-310hp at stage 1 that should be enough to entertain me for a while! Then I can get some suspension etc sorted.
Love it mate

TTS is an awesome choice! I would of gone for one if it was in my price range. I've driven a few DSG and I wasn't hugely keen, plus I've seen a few have problems with them and the initial price seemed to be higher too. It is quite awkward to get quickly through the gears by the time you take your hand of the stick to grab the wheel its time to change again. Although I imagine a lot of that is down to me not being especially good with it at the minute I missed 4th today completely and ended up in 6th ha.

Well I have driven a manual TTS and TT TDi and was happy enough with both, being used to manual and all that.
But I think back to when I used a Golf GT TDi with the DSG and I was quite happy with it. Reading a few forums they say with a DSG flash it helps it hang onto gears a little better.
I know what you mean about price range, but they are coming down quite quickly at the min with the Mk3 due late next year. Im just waiting for that right moment. I will be quite mad if I buy one now and then in another 4/6 weeks they drop another £1/2k
Looks a good car though mate. Very nice indeed! Like you said S1 is 300 plus ponies, plenty to keep most occupied for a little while.

Really like these cars, the colour is awesome, my old man had a 1.6tdi this shape nothing fast but that was nice to drive and was pretty much base spec.

Has the Haldex service been done?

I'll have a look through I think I have some better ones of it. Yea Haldex was done however the engine in this has done 12,000 miles. It had a replacement at an Audi dealership in 2012 along with a turbo and a load of other stuff.
How much change in MPG have you seen at 2+? Is it a Revo map? Im planning a stage 1 in march from Shark.

Imola yellow is awesome like I would love one in that colour. I went to see a solar orange one but it didn't have sat-nav or heated seats.

This ones not a fantastic one to take a price guide from tbh, as it wasn't straight forward. Spec etc is as follows:
Flat bottom wheel
Bose sound system
Satnav/dvd etc
Auto lights, wipers
Heated front seats
Full Audi service history (some gaps)
Mileage on the shell - 135K
Engine Mileage - 12.5K
Had an engine and turbo fitted at Liverpool Audi in 2011 at 123K all paper work etc present.(I also called the dealer to confirm they were quite helpful)
Bad points from the sale were:
Front Bumper damage
Laquer peel on the rear bumper
No Satnav DVD
Some slight wear marks on the rear of the front seats
No service stamp for the last 12 months/3500 miles
Not really looked after by the alst owner fair few light scuffs & scratches (90% removable with a rotary)
It was advertised at £9,450 I paid £8600.
I've spent £200 on it so far which included all the service bits etc, I had a spare 2012 sat-nav DVD at home anyway and the body work has been quoted at £400. The wheels are quite tatty too they need a re-furb.
The lad I bought it off I didn't trust, so I stuck it in the unit for a week and went over it ruthlessly and I was hugely surprised. Its going to need rear pads and discs around march time next year. I took a bit of a gamble on it to be honest.
I looked at a few of them and this one drove the best, had the cleanest bay and the most history but the mileage was the highest.

Thanks for that mate, i was going to save £11,000 i think will take me 1 and a half years realistically... if you ever decide to sell don't hesitate to PM me!

You will have a good choice for 11K I imagine mate, I was willing to spend 10K and I viewed them up to that price. There was a really nice black one on ebay at the time I was looking at, the guy was very genuine and the car was low mileage, well looked after 1 owner, it went for £11,600 iirc it had pretty much every option too.
My idea was that I've basically got £1300 grace to spend on things for this, I think realistically after I've sorted everything out its going to have cost me £9300 ish.

I got a new camera for Christmas so thought I would give it a whirl at the weekend and the car needed a clean so I'll update this.
Since last time I've done:
Cruise control activated
De-wiper
Pressed plates
Spare Key
Pas-side spring (snapped one!)
New battery
Bought:
Loba motorsport single mass flywheel
Sachs organic clutch
Audi release bearing
Flywheel bolts/g-box oil/clutch fluid
Powerflex track use large bottom engine mount bush
Powerflex small bottom engine mount bush
Clutch started slipping a few weeks ago so I've bought that stuff and the spring snapping was annoying too so the map and other things will be a bit later on now. I've got some loan on the car so I'm planning on paying that off early before doing any other mod's to it now. The clutch wont arrive until the end of the month I imagine so that stuff will go on then.
Photos are in order from dirty through cleaning etc.

Cheers, yea plans were to have it mapped by Shark in march time but the clutch slipping put that back, and the fact the parts have cost me an arm and a leg! I need to sort out the wheels and tyres too really I've got a trip to the ring booked in June. Im hoping by then it will have CAI, PCV re-vamp, GFB re-circ and a map.

I'm really considering Shark for my remap or APR.
Am trying to get a 3" down pipe first and am going to mate it to my current cat back exhaust. Then go straight for S2 map. Unless I see a fuel pump come up and I have money burning a hole in my wallet at the time. But the car is quick enough for me at the min.
The one thing that is winding me up is the TTS down pipe is like no other so more expensive. Grrrr
Rare they come up for sale!
Keep up the good work bud

Facelifts do look abit better i think too, id of preferd MY09- but they demand more than i wanted to pay. Its nice to drive, suspension is quite stiff (its a breeze compared to my saxo mind) Characteristics can be abit all over the place when ESP and the haldex are at full chat its not hugely predictable when cornering. I drive it with the ESP/ASR off i want to go quick it makes it alot easier imo.
There not hugely quick no, 5.5s 0-60 and it does reach 160mph on the sat nav. It a tad behind a Mk2 Focus RS really on the road.
see youve gone balls out on that clutch change lol hope you had a good bday dude! shame we didnt meet up tho :(
Yea didnt have a choice really, didnt fancy spending £500 on oem parts and end up having the same problems after its mapped later in the year. Clutch should be here soon i think i'm not looking forward to doing it. I've fit the bigger powerflex mount tonight, i was expecting the same results as the saxo but cant really tell if im honest.
Cheers mate yea it was good, i know i ended up working on the saturday :( :n: How you stacked for money/holidays mate? Me, Jam & my brother have just booked holidays for Le Mans/The ring. Were going to both in one go leaving on 11th june back on the 19th if you fancy it?

I've only read good things about Shark and APR. Im more leaning towards Shark as the place im thinking of using is the place im going to get the PCV & CAI from so makes sense i guess.
Ah nightmare, so whats the deal with the TTS is it the 265hp one or is it more? I do fancy a stage 2+ and i would be looking at that if the rest of the car was perfect but the body work and wheels need doing so im going to have to settle with stage one for 12 or so months :n:
I was shocked when i priced it up new though!

They're exactly same engine though I think the maps are ever so slightly different but nothing to write home about. So what ever you get from stage one I'd expect to be around same figures.
I'm not too fussed about CAI, if I go stage 2+ (which I doubt) then I'd get one. But I'm really just thinking panel filter, down pipe and S2 map.
Over on TT forum plenty of guys run this happily (Maybe slightly different air box on TTS and S3?)
These cars can eat up the pennies very quickly. I still dream of the RS. But the missus would of killed me!!!

Yea I think the air box on yours is a lot better than mine. Mines built into the engine cover its quite restrictive, people fit CAI and see about 10hp from that alone usually. I need to fit the engine cover off yours though if I do it.
Haha tell me about it, come march I will have spent more on this than I did on the saxo in 6 years!

When I read about the GIAC maps they were a few people who were quite disappointed. Its just too smooth, so smooth you could easily mistake it for your original map.
I read that Shark can alter the map if you wish, so they can make it slightly more aggressive if wanted.
Too many decisions
Revo
APR
Giac
etc
I want the DSG map too, gosh knows how much extra that will be. Companies are not very forthcoming in posting up prices.

I've never understood the 'average' seats. Not exactly 'S' like.
I'll still most probably get one. ED30 is lacking Quattro.

Yea the seats aren't so great, a set of RS4's would be nice! What power is the ED30?

For the controller it was an extra £150
Gives you freedom to change maps at your own pleasure if you want it
Allows you to read and clear codes too.
Can also set a valet mode if off on holiday etc
ED30 is 230bhp iirc

I considered these as they're great value for the money but I just can't help but think people like Shark, Revo, APR, have all put it that bit more time and effort with their maps. Super chips do ever car possibly imaginable.
Without read data thou it's hard to knock them.
Also a note I read is Revo were actually used by APR for using their code on maps.... How true this is I've no idea but doesn't sound good stealing bits of coding.

If you compare the maps of both the REVO and Superchip they are very similar. Looks like the REVO may give a little bit more of a kick around 3.5K.
If the price was closer hands down I'd choose the REVO but after all the good reviews Superchip get and the price they are hard to ignore.

Haha no problem I need as much input on the mapping side. It seems that its basically just down to preference, out of the top 3-4 companies by the looks of things you cant go wrong.
Gave the car a quick clean today and grabbed some photos heres an update:
Since last time ive changed:
Loba motorsport single mass flywheel
Sachs organic clutch
Audi release bearing
Flywheel bolts/clutch fluid
Powerflex track use large bottom engine mount bush
Powerflex small bottom engine mount bush
GFB DV+
Pair of front HID bulbs
Rear number plate LED's
White Fog light bulbs
Bulbs didn't fix my headlight colouring, it is better but still not right so I think its likely the projectors. next plans are:
MY09 rear lights
Wheel re-furb and tyres.

Nah it's just the same noise as before it's still a re-circ it doesn't dump, throttle response and reduced turbo lag are the main effects plus once mapped the oem one tends to break a lot.
Yea clutch is spot on now all bedded in feels good to be able to drive it properly.

Feel like its coming together a lot more now especially with the decent weather I've really been able to unleash it and enjoy it. Here's another update.
So since last time I've done the following:
Oil & Filter change
Rear bumper lacquered
Both drivers doors lacquered
Front bumper repaired
4 x Michelin PS3's
Wheel re-furb
This leaves me with a few small things to sort out, Haldex oil & filter & a centre arm rest lid, then its finally time for an intake & a map.
The car is currently in 'Le Mans' trim for the drive over on Wednesday, this is only temporary of course.

Yea this is it basically, you can get a new lid handle off ebay or off Shapeways. If you have lost the spring however your screwed as I don't think you can buy them. You will need a new lid. Its stupid the design of it sucks.

Me and JAM are the only ones booked up at the minute, we are going 18th-22nd of September, the ring is open for most of that time and there is an event on at the GP circuit. Anyone's welcome to come with, we've booked ferries and we are camping :homme:

There's a fair few on the Audi forums that have done just that, my dad forked out for a new lid for his A4 a while back but there a bit of a rip at £70 odd for just an arm rest lid.

I've not updated this in a while, mainly because not a lot has changed. I've been spending most of the time replacing OEM parts for maintenance stuff really & generally trying not to spend much money on the car.
So... I made it to the ring in September, managed 5 laps over 2 days and the car went really well, I was impressed with the PS3's and generally had a trouble free trip.

Unfortunately my GoPro mount that I had on the dash decided to 'un-stick' its self coming out of Flugplatz on the first lap so no videos :(
When we got back I thought it best to get a few service things out of the way & I decided I would get it mapped after Christmas so ended up changing the following parts before then:
Plugs
Oil & Filter
Air filter
HPFP Cam follower
Timing belt kit
Water pump
Aux belt
Both front brake disc dust covers (one was bent and catching the bottom arm when going full lock)
None service things changed are:
New set of genuine floor mats
Shark Stage 1 Map
Black coolant bottle cap
Black washer bottle cap
MOT is due again at the end of March, I need some rear pads & discs before then and I'm going to change the rear dust covers too as they are flaking & look tatty. Annoyingly the PS3's haven't lasted long and I need another set for the MOT so I bought them a few weeks back. I grabbed a few photos of it today as we actually had a warm day!

I didn't get a before & after of the map at Shark, & to be honest I wasn't all that impressed so I took it to the RR again today to see what the graph looked like. This is what it made & the second graph is the before & after graphs overlayed.

I've booked up for the ring again in May so likely to be no updates before then. Hopefully I should be able to get some good videos this time around. Plans before the end of the summer this year are:
Revo intake
TT engine cover
Whiteline front & rear ARBS
Whiteline anti-lift kit

I really want the Supersports! Were did you buy them from? I didn't get them this time as I'm still using it daily and doing 400miles a week which sucks. Plan is to get a daily car after the ring so I can stick this in my unit so I'll definitely be looking at them for the next set.

Tyre Leader has them for £99 each. It's a pretty good price. I'm really jealous of how clean your S3 is, sits at a perfect height. Out of interest, what clutch and flywheel did you go for?

Shit, I paid almost that for the PS3's off CamSkill :n: I thought they were more like £130 a tyre!
I got the Loba single mass flywheel & the sachs 550Nm clutch.

That's the AMD link for the kit, I got it cheaper than that from 'GNJ Motorsport.'
I wish I'd just got that clutch with a duel mass flywheel now though the single mass is getting a bit tedious!

Yeah as Dom said, Tyreleader has a really good price on at the mo. I paid £105 a corner from Camskill (tyreleader were £115 at the time). tempted to buy a couple more for when my fronts wear though.
really impressed with them, the PS3's were nice but deffo don't have the grip that the supersports do!
only had them on a few weeks so can't comment on wear rate yet.

Its been a while... to be honest not a lot has changed on the car I've been trying to save as much money as possible. I'll contradict myself by the end of this post though as the bugs back this past month.
So since last time I've replaced the following:
Rear pads & Discs (OEM)
Rear brake dust covers
Oil & filter change ( x3)
Rear O/S caliper
Rear O/S caliper pipe
Water temp sensor housing (more on that later!)
Front Brake discs (OEM)
DS2500 Front Pads
Brake fluid change
Oil Pickup pipe
Glove box lid & ram
R8 Oil Cap
So I got a new job a few months back, my mileage each week has halved which means I can comfortably do my journey in a shit box. So as soon as funds allow I'll be buying something else to run around in and this will become a bit more of a toy.
So leaving off from the last update, I went to the ring in May, everything above the temp sensor housing was changed before this trip (only 1 of the oil/filter changes.) Long story short it was a disaster, ended up in German hospital with my brother he was out of action the whole time we were there. I bought 9 laps & only managed 1 practice lap in the S3....
I came across a little problem mid way round which left my car stuck in the car park for 3 days. The water housing on the right hand side of the block had been repaired way back (before the first ring trip) due to getting cracked when I changed the clutch. This gave way mid lap, VERY luckily the car didn't over heat. I managed to repair the car & drive it home with a lot of tie wraps under the bonnet!
Anyway after this I had 8 laps left on my card.... so we booked a ferry for August, I changed the rest of the things on the list and headed off back to Germany over the bank holiday.
More of a successful trip... sort of. I managed 6.5 laps, the first 6 were spot on, not the fastest but the car was faultless & the trip in general was faultless. I did however end up with some severely warped brakes which meant I had to drop off ad Adenau on lap 7 it was unsafe. The discs are genuine discs from TPS. Anyway a few videos below:
2nd Full lap

Passenger view
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5zEmmZJXzY
My half lap - you can here the vibrations pretty well!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czz0LtdwtxY
So I'm back in the UK, I've got to the point were I'm comfortable with the car & we've booked up for Germany again next April. I cant take it there with standard brakes I'm obviously cooking them way to easily so my plans are to go with a RS3/TTRS front brake setup. This doesn't fit under my wheels so I'll need new wheels (which is ok I need new tyres now again anyway!) So brakes wheels & tyres will be done before the next trip, id still like to get the ARBs changed too but I'll see what happens up until then.

Oh Hai!
So I guess I should resume were I left off at the previous Nurburgring trip. As I mentioned the brakes were the serious weak point. So I decided I wanted to upgrade to something substantial, I pestered a few forum members over on audi-sport & decided on a setup. I also made the decision to take the car off the road completely in December until it was complete (which was yesterday). The idea being I could do the brakes, service the car & do a few other things without having to worry about time & getting it back on the road etc, this got a little bit more in-depth than I first planned but I had no choice really.
To make sure I don't miss anything this is a list of what has been changed on the car since its been off the road:
Standard parts:
Air filter
Pollen filter
Oil filter
Oil
Sump plug
Spark plugs
All inlet/throttle gaskets
Air filter mounting rubbers
Turbo inlet pipe seal
4x Injector seal kits
2x Front top mounts
2x Front drop-links
Standard Acrylic GB badged number plates
Brake reservoir cap
O/S front Brake pipe
N/S front brake pipe
Upgrades:
TTRS Brembo 4-pots
Genuine Brembo inner & outer seal kit
Genuine bleed nipples & covers
AP Racing/Vagbremtechnic 362mm Bell & Rotors
HEL front Braided Lines
Mintex M1155 Front Pads
TTRS Brake cooling plates
KW V1 Inox coilovers
Motul RBF600 Brake Fluid
Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 18x8" ET45
Nankang NS2R 180 Hard compound
Right with that out the way, this is were it started.... £100 of my hard earned cash, a few parts & an MOT saw the total cost of buying this little beauty & making it road worthy at £250... Jackpot! So that meant the S3 was off the road and work could begin.
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/678/21790443874_deb7d1569f_c.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/zcxHNb)DSC06847 (https://flic.kr/p/zcxHNb) by T.walker5190 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/79342310@N03/), on Flickr
So firstly I bought & changed all of the service parts, next I came across the Brembos for sale on audi-sport. They were a little paint damaged & no info on mileage etc. So I thought I'd just buy them with the view of changing all seals bleed nipples then painting them. So they went a bit like this:

While I gathered some funds I pulled the original brakes off the car & sold them, this was the start of the problems. The car was always due MOT in March so I went over all of the mot items to find quite a few problems, mainly that I had 2 snapped rear springs, 2 leaking rear shocks, 1 worn front top mount & 1 leaking front shock. I guess that's to be expected at 180,000 miles. It stayed like this for some time while I decided what to do.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1598/24646231681_4d0e5bc622_c.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/DxUo1Z)DSC06928 (https://flic.kr/p/DxUo1Z) by T.walker5190 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/79342310@N03/), on Flickr
While I was waiting I decided to have a look at the inlet valves, the engine is around the 60k mark now, with it off the road it was ideal timing. I decided to pull the injectors out too so I could have the seals changed & the injectors cleaned. Here's a few images of that whole fiasco:
Before:

So before that all went back together I decided to remove any vac pipes, air pipes, plastics etc from the engine bay & clean them all. I wont lie I didn't really clean any of them my mate did all the cleaning bits for me!
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1716/25080162772_1b55bc5b0a_c.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/EdfoBw)DSC07041 (https://flic.kr/p/EdfoBw) by T.walker5190 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/79342310@N03/), on Flickr

I wont rabble on about it to much but basically I rang TD, asked for some Pro Race 1.2 with the letters removed. Got quoted 3-4 weeks delivery time. 7 weeks later a set of normal 1.2's turn up with the writing in them wtf!? With the delivery times like that & the Nurburgring trip so close I cant risk sending the wheels back so I took a refund on some of the cost & just kept these wheels with the text. So that brings me to tonight, the car is booked in for Geometry & MOT on Saturday, a quick run out to Hartside to check that everything is good under anger & she's ready for Germany. Its late & the cars dirty so I'll get some proper photos over the weekend but for now this is how it looks:

Cheers mate, the KW's are way too soft. I'm going to see how they go on track at the weekend. The ARB's are really shit from standard so I think ill go with changing them next & bushes then see how it feels.

Yea its always annoying watching it back when you realise the speed haha. It feels like your flying when your on there then the videos bring you back to reality! It is a relatively slow lap in both of them videos to be fair, they are 8:30's.
I managed to get down to 8:20 early on the morning with no traffic but that was about as good as it got for me.

14th April 2016, 09:31
I've only been there twice and not done many laps. Know it in my head perfectly from years of youtube and forza but I bet if I was to go on again I would be slow as hell. The place is so so intimidating especially to someone new to it!
I didn't mean slow as in the lap as 8:30 is very good it just looks slower than the usual standard window out gopro view most people film in.

Pleased you survived in one piece. For people on this forum who haven't been, 8.20/30 on the ring is terrifying. It's the sort of time the M3 ring taxi's put in.
Thanks for the review on the suspension too, that's one set I certainly won't be buying!

Yeah that's the dictated time for the ring taxi's. I think you would need to know the place pretty well to push hard enough for 8:30 in any car!

Hopefully with some ARB's, new springs poly bushes & a decent set of seats with harnesses ill hit the 8 minute mark in September. That's the aim anyways.

Yea 100% do not buy V1. I wish I had just gone for V3 from the start :(
I was happy with the times this go around to be honest. I passenger in an M3 that did 7:28... that was scary haha. I managed an 8:53 at my absolute best with it back in September so the mods have certainly helped.
For any VAG owners on this platform that may be interested here's a few more images & feedback on the other stuff.
So the tyres are good, a lot more grip than the PS3's & they have worn well. I drove the car hard & they got quite hot. No problems there I think they are a bargin. The grip levels aren't near R888's but for £75 a corner they are well worth the money. Few photos below of them after the 9 laps:

The brakes were awesome, insanely better than the last setup. I stamped on them hard, did back to back laps & the performance didn't drop off. No warpped discs or damaged pads either, I don't think I could be any harsher on the brakes than I was, I pushed them as much as possible, here's a picture of them straight after the 9th lap:

Tell me about it prices for parts on these suck!
It went well I was really happy with it, just got to get a few bits sorted on it before I go back. I'm not sure if I'm risking damage with oil temps & the standard sump. I'm temped to try and get an oil cooler & baffled sump on there at the same time as arbs & bushes but ill see how it goes.

After my oil pressure incident I did look into baffled sumps, it turns out the standard sumps are already baffled, as long as the Oil level is okay you shouldn't need one. Along with how shallow the sumps are, if you look at how deep the pick up pipe sits into the sump its not needed imo.
Ever thought of running an the oil pump without the balance shaft? Worth looking into!

Hmmm weird mines not I've had it off to change the pickup, the pickup is quite close to the bottom of the sump mind your right there. Maybe it will be ok my cornering speeds aren't that excessive to be honest I'm just a bit worried about it.
I haven't..... what's the reasons behind that? I think I remember you saying something about the balance shaft causing some problems?
How is yours anyways I've not seen any updates on it? I bet it fly's!!

Strange? Maybe we have different sumps? I did have a Seat Cupra K1 sump on for a month whilst running the engine in, that was a different design/shape inside to my normal S3 sump, also the K1 didn't have the Oil level sensor hole in the bottom. My normal S3 sump has baffles on the sides and ridges at the bottom.
I can't exactly pin point how the balance shaft has changed the engine as it was all transformed in one hit, but I'm sure Alex @ AKS will tell you the benefits of it. Driving the car at high RPM is less of a concern, at 7k the balance shaft will be doing 14k rpm, it's maximum. I'm not concerned with that mechanism fucking up on track anymore.
Mines going very well tbh, need to change the Valve springs in the next couple of weeks. It made it to the ring and back without a drama a couple of weeks ago! It's running 400bhp at 1.6 bar, it'll pass 425bhp at its designed 1.8bar but I can't push boost until the weaker variant of valve springs are removed. So much for the TTE420 being the greatest product eh. The tuning company (who are very friendly with TTE) criticised my Turbo for spooling too quickly?
I will update my thread when I can, kept it more to my Facebook than forum's lately

Had a change of plan with the car, I didn't keep it off the road again. Weather has been too good & the dates for Ring in August/September are looking pretty bad in terms of what's on each weekend. So I'm in limbo a bit with that at the minute, thought I may as well just drive it daily again and enjoy it. If it looks like I wont get back over to the ring I'll probably wait until winter again to do the ARBs & bushes etc when it is off the road over Christmas time.
In the mean time I've changed all 4 wheel bearings so its got a full new set on, & changed the oil and filter. There's a photo of the TTRS brake cooling plates as well which I had missed of the previous update. Not 100% convinced if they actually do much. So I've had a few weekend drives out, messed around with the ride heights and got to a nice height were it doesn't seem to be rubbing at all on the road now under any type of driving.

Have you ever bought a scratch card?
When you order from team dynamics its a little like that, you may get them in 3 weeks or you may get them in 8 weeks. You might get the writing on the lip or you might not. Sometimes you will get the colour you asked for, sometimes you will get black. If you order on a Monday they will get the PCD & offset correct, but probably send you a centre bore that's too small.
If you want to fit them in 2018 a good time to order would be this weekend, you may have the correct wheel in time then. :y:
