Hi all was wondering if your allowed to remove the air bag light bulb or disconnect the air bag computer thingy so that the light dosent even come on on start up?
Reason I ask this is ive changed my steering wheel so I now have no air bag at all. So there isn't any point in having a warning light for something which isn't there.
Was just wondering if as its non existent do I still need to have the light to come on and go off? or can I just remove the bulb/disconnect the air bag computer thing?
Cheers all.

I've never actually noticed but does the air bag light usually come on and then off again when the ignition is turned on?
Would fitting resistors not be the easiest option?

Yeah if its got an air bag it comes on then goes off after a few seconds. i think its a way to prove that the system is working then it goes off to tell you that its all ok. Well ive got a resistor in there to stop it from staying on but was just thinking as I don't have an air bag why not just remove the computer box under the dash? I know that my seatbelt pre tensioners wont work but that dosent bother me because some cars dont have them anyway. My airbag lights on all the time at the moment though because the wires to the pre tensioners are faulty but was thinking it would be easier to just remove the whole system.
Anybody know anything on this?

for an Mot, the car only fails if the light is on.
There is no sequence like an ABS light where it has to illuminate for 1-5seconds then go out.

I thought they changed it so that it had to go on then go off.
I just took the bulb out of the golf but dunno if its changed or not

i used 2 bits of wire and 10amp fuse connected to the orange connector in steering wheel

This is what I thought, meaning you were not able to remove the bulb as an easy fix.
I recently purchased resistors from maplin which solve this issue,m2r2 iirc.
