Hi guys,

I have seen in the previous posts that a wrench means the car has to be taken for a service. However, my case needs a special advice that I couldn't find within the posts.

When I bought the car late in August, it was MOTed in July. I was told that its oil and filters had been renewed when MOTed. When I ignited the car, it showed in that little display/ digital screen a number, about 8000. Now that this number has reached to 10,050, I can see the wrench flashing every time I ignite the car. The seller told me that, probably the MOT man hasn't reset the gauge but I should be alright.

Do you feel I should be alright as well? Do I need to check it up with a mechanic or is there anything I myself should do?

Thank you for your advice.

It's suppose to count down from 12500 in 50 increments.
However if you only had the oil and filter done it's quite easy to see if it has been done normally.
Pull the dipstick out and see if the oil is black.
Then again it's only like £30 for an oil and filter change.
I know where I work we don't reset the service indicator just for an oil and filter change.

Good at least my post has made you laugh! LOL

My Saxo counts up in 50 intervals. I think she has made a -/+ mistake in her calculations. LOL

I just hope its rear axle and noise stuff doesn't rip me off.

It counts down from the initial 10,000 or whatever it's set to, then when it reaches 0 and hasn't been reset, it shows you how far over service interval you are by counting up. Also, the service spanner will be permanently on.

Gosh! Then no one has set is zero for 24600 miles! It shows 14600 now.

I showed it to the mechanic and was advised to have the filters and oil changed (full service) after about 2000 mi.

I will have to changed timing belt as well. It is now 73500 with the original one. The mechanic said it must have been changed on 65000.
