Hi can someone tell me the rad thats on my saxo vtr atm has been changed by the previous owner, I know the cap is a Peugeot one as I hsd the same on my 206 before. Its the one that has a book on it and its a black screw on lid, do these have seals in them??? Mine hasent see and im wondering if this is causing the car to over heat.

irrelevant but fixed. It's best to take a shot from the front of the radiator during daytime (as in possible stone chip damage). Check your coolant level.

If your engine overheats or shows signs of overheating:

- bleed the system
- spot the coolant leak and fix it

As far as I can tell your radiator looks fine. In most cases you just need to bleed the system.

Also is there any difference in 1.1, 1.4 and 16 8v engine temp sensors? ? ?

Nah they all just sense temperature.. It will shoot up if you have bubbles in the system, especially when pushing uphill.

and guys is it possible that the heater matrix is blocked ? Ive noticed that theres 2 pipes going to the heater matrix the one with a valve and one from the thermostat casing. when I put a hose pipe in the valve hose id say more were coming back out than going in the matrix it self. however when it did go through only some was coming back out of the pipe that goes to the thermostat casing pipe. why im thinking it cud be the heater matrix is theres no heat from the fans in the car, always misted inside and obviously theres air in the system.

also are all saxo heater matrix the same ? ? ? 1.1 1.4 1.6 8v and 1.6 16v ? if so I can get one from my local scrappy. I take it the dash gota come out to remove it ? any dash removal discriptions on here?

yeah all the heater matrix are the same.

I think that must be your problem. Odd that coolant flowed out of the bleed nipple at the back though, as that's the "exit" from the matrix. I suppose if the matrix has a block though...

No idea about replacement, I think the dash has to come out.

The matrix is a dash out job i`m afraid mate.

Im confident with the dash out, I really think it is the matrix, I sort of done it earlier I bled the nuts off the car haha and I won for about 5 mins but back to cold air over heating, ive priced one up brand new with a 2 year warranty for 18 pound, oooo btw every time I was bleeding the air managed to get to the radiator and when the bleed nipple was undone it was hissing for ages. And as soon as the air was out. the bottle on the rad was going down so topped tha back up then it slowly over flowed abit, so im guessing either heater matrix blocked or just given up, am I rite in saying if the previous owners only used water as a coolant that the radiator and heater matrix will rott from inside out? Only with water and no coolant such as long term.
