Hi, since everybody's always so helpful here, I have another question. Or problem, depends on how you look at it.
My starter motor is ruined. It will start eventually...after seven or eight attempts or a push or two but I need a new one.
I'm a bit confused though because looking at the damn thing it doesn't appear to be that hard to replace it. I mean I've done my bloody headgasket, for god's sake. So why does everyone I ask refuse to help me? Surely, it can't be that hard.

And another thing. The starter motor might be knackered but my alternator works fine, I mean it charges the battery. In German there's only one word for both things, and since it seems I'll have to do this on my own again, what exactly do I have to replace? Last time I had a look there may be only one word in german for the bloody thing but an starter motor and an alternator are hardly the same thing...
And why does my garage want 400 euros for that?
Thanks for your help.

3x 13mm bolts hold starter motor on, undo these, pull starter motor out slightly and tip it so you can see the wiring. 13mm nut holding the power cables, 8mm nut holding the earth cable.
Takes about 20 mins to change.

Thanks. So it's how I thought. Not difficult at all. Maybe everyone I asked is just stupid or lazy. Thanks again.
