Hi was in the middle of doing a gearbox oil change and took the 1.1 spi air intake feed off, before i continue i'll let you know this, the tube that leads from the rocker cover to the head of the air filter their is a piece that has snapped off that joins from the tubing to the air intake manifold and needs replacing.

When taking the air intake off and inspecting i have found the thick orange oily substance that is normally clogged in the rocker cover tubing has travelled up and to the entrance of the carb. Luckily it hasn't entered the carb itself but was on the verge of doing so. Why has this happened? and anyway to stop it? Can provide pics to show you what im trying to explain if you want me to.

Thanks

you havent got a carb if its spi, its a throttle body and single injector.
That orange stuff is emulsified oil from condensation and oil vapour mixing. The breather system on the spi inlet on the 8v is wank at best, and in cold weather/short journeys it just clogs up (can be caused by a slight head gasket weep in some cases too).

Clean it all out and refit, then do the same in a few months as it'll be back more than likely

Im just worried about it for my MOT in December as it could mess up on emission readings.
