Anyone got a rough idea on how much it would cost to get a new bit of metal welded in underneath the ECU? last years mot it got an advisory on corrosion near the suspension strut and just had a look today and its get a big hole where the rust used to be haha.. mot is due in a week ;[

There won't be a set rate for all garages. You need to ring round or go visit some places and show them what needs welding. Asking on here is essentially a waste of time.
Or even ask the place that's doing your mot to give you a quote.

Depending on the size to see how much the materials will be then it's just time.

i have the same problem, going to weld it myself but some guy on my post said
"I paid a local welder I know about 30 quid to do both the rear arches and under the ECU. He did a rear part of the sill for £40 so its cheap enough "

It was me. The guy I use is very fair with his pricing so you might be paying more than I did but not too much. There's nothing to stop you shopping around- Call local friendly garages and see who they use, a lot won't do the work themselves and contract it out which is what the guy I use does except he does the odd mobile/home visit too

I had to get the seat mount welded on mine, went to my local backstreet garage and this weird cock eyed bloke who could hardly speak english quoted me £60+ for about 3 minutes worth of work, nee chance I was letting him near my car. Ended up getting a sound guy off here to do it for £20 and he did a proper job.
Just ask around, theres bound to be someone near you who can weld or does it as a profession and will happily sort you out for a few notes thrown his way on the hush haha
