I have recently replaced the clutch, gearbox, driveshafts and wishbones on my vtr. It has been a couple of weeks now and the car has developed a knocking noise when the car decelerates without applying the brakes.

The noise is a knocking that decreases in frequency as the car slows down. It is quite loud and seems to be coming from somewhere on the passenger side.

I have been under the car and checked everything is tight that has been touched while doing the previous work and i cant work out what is causing the noise.

Any ideas or advice?
Thanks in advance

Driveshaft maybe, what was the gearbox like you put in?

It's got brand new driveshafs put in when doing the gearbox and clutch. The gearbox drives fine, no grinding or whining or problems getting into gear etc

Also it happens whether in gear or not so i don't think its the gear box. But it definitely sounds like it has something to do with the rotation of the wheels, the noise is periodic and decreases in frequency as the car slows down. There is no noise when accelerating or braking.

Did you put a new release bearing in?

Check the 19mm nut for the top gearbox mount, or the 3 13mm nuts that hold the mount on they like work loose making a knock & will end up snapping

Thanks will give it a try. Sounds like a rotational sort of knock though

Could it be that something wasn't seated/fitted properly when changing it all over?
