Hello, This is going to sound really silly but i've just bought a 98' Saxo and it did not come with an owners manual. I have a feeling that there is a problem with the windscreen washer pump. Can someone confirm to me where the actual switch is in the car?
I imagine it is on the right stick where the windscreen wiper switch is but want someone to confirm.. I think ive tried every switch though but it doesn't seem to work.
I've not checked the water as the car has literally had an MOT a week ago and i'm pretty sure that gets checked. Would the car not fail the mot if the windscreen washer is not working?
I am a completely noob when it comes to cars!
Hope you can help

you pull the wiper stalk towards you to work the washers.
Check the fuses first, even when the pumps fuck up the usually still whine.
chances are the washerjets froze and you have gone to use them and its blown a fuse

Right stalk towards you, even if it's empty you should hear the pump. Check the fuses.

To wash the windscreen you pull the right stalk towards you and hold it and for the rear window you twist the end of the stalk.
Surely its common sense to just check if you have water first? They may have used the last bit of it testing it in the MOT, I'm not 100% sure they do check it either. Can't say I've ever seen it done on an MOT but it doesnt make sense to do it.

it is tested in an Mot. Pisses me off when people bring in a car with no washer fluid.

Doesnt make sense to check if the car can wash the screen and clear it effectively so the driver can see? hmm

thanks for the help guys, I figured it out. Turns out the stick was slightly sticky when pulling it towards me. Gave it an extra pull and their working. Guess I was just worried about about snapping them off!
Thanks again

it is tested in an Mot.
One of my mates failed his last MOT just because of that. 2 minutes later and it was fixed.
