So, been on the forum for a while now and used to own a 1.6 Dynamique S VVT, which was very nice to drive, but I've decided to get the full "Sha-bang"!
So I introduce Lexi the Clio lol;
She has 90k miles, FSH, 12 months MOT, 6 months Tax and in great condition! I picked her up for £2100, but will be more like £2500 once I've replaced the dephaser & Belt (dephaser is worn). It comes with receipts for a sports cat with a Scorpion 2.5" exhaust, mushroom filter with cold air feed & remap, but no power printout unfortunately.

I'm going to look at a few bits and bobs for it, but nothing spectacular! As I'd like to keep it as standard looking and as clean as possible :)

Be lucky to get dephaser and belts changed for 400. Not if you want it done properly. Think the parts alone are more than that.
I'd strongly advise you go to Fred @ BTM Performance, he's based in Brum.

Yeah that's him! He did my mates Trophy and the belt change was £325 + VAT so I'm hoping for the same sort of figures, he charges £20 a belt addition as well so might just get it all done & serviced for piece of mind! Starting to sound a bit like a tractor now lol
And thanks guys! What do you think about wind deflectors? Not sure if they look tacky or not 😕

Cheers mate! I'm loving it lol, I drive the mrs EP3 as well, still prefer mine though! Only thing I dislike is the worlds stiffest clutch lol, horrible to drive in slow traffic

So today was the day I took the car for a Power Run to see what comes up.. I ended up taking the car to a place called "Hi-Tech Motorsport" in Cradley Heath.
Now, this doesn't really affect the story but on arrival, there was a Corsa VXR on the rollers that made 184BHP and was currently undergoing a map to try and achieve 250bhp on the standard Turbo (according to owner). Looks like the thing sh*t itself and the turbo blew up.. Ouch.
Anyways, onto my "dire" results.
Cradley heath from me is about 25 miles, so a good 45 minutes of driving, whilst I was waiting for said Corsa to move off the rollers, I would say my car had been sitting engine off for about 40 minutes? (this is key)
So I finally drove on to the rollers and they warmed her up, they did 2 power runs which achieved... 144bhp + 146bhp. I can only describe my face in pictures, so I assumed it looked a bit like the following;
http://memeorama.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Oh-God-What-The-Shitting-Fuck-Rage-Face.jpg
This was when I noticed, the read out was saying it was limiting at 6800 RPM, I said to the "technician" do you think the cold limiter could be on STILL?! Well, it was. They turned their fan off and we got it running again and gave it a warm up, fans kicked in, assumed temperature. So here's the run;
http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/trackready1/media/cliorun_zpsadda8b2e.mp4.html
Which gave the following final result;
http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m486/trackready1/null_zpsd41af3a7.jpg (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/trackready1/media/null_zpsd41af3a7.jpg.html)
http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m486/trackready1/null_zps4349fb28.jpg (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/trackready1/media/null_zps4349fb28.jpg.html)
As you can see from the graph its a very smooth line and the power is there all the way to the limiter, but gave a read out of 166bhp + 120ftlb.
Now the dephaser is playing up and does need replacing, this was mentioned by the technician and said it could cause the readings to be out, if slightly.
What do you guys think? Something I should be worried about? I'm a bit disappointed with the results to be honest, more so because, the car doesn't drive how the paper states. I've had a play with a few cars, Megane 225, EP3, Fabia VRS, POLO TSFI etc...
The Megane 225 was standard, I pulled from that, the EP3 has a decat and exhaust and I was slightly infront of that. No idea if the VRS or POLO TSFI were standard, but both of those I pulled much harder than the Megane + EP3.
I'm just confused by the figures and most of all, if there's something I should be worried about?

Would have thought being the 182 model it would be running at least 175bhp (like most) specially with the exhaust ect.. I'd have been upset too tbh

160bhp on any RS Clio is a good result tbh.

When was the last time it was serviced?
It is a high miler so to speak so maybe the engine just isn't as good as it maybe once was? I'd be upset with those figures though with the mods. If it was stock I'd be ok with that.

Yeah I'm going to be speaking to Fred @ BTM, we're convinced the cam timing is out as the torque figure came back @ 120ftlb, the bhp figure I'm not too concerned about.
I've just bought some iridium plugs & filters, oils etc... Going to give it a service and see probably after Christmas what power comes back after dephaser is changed with new belt, cam timing set up properly & serviced

Yeah that sounds like a plan. I'd be hoping for around 175-180 after the service, going by those figures but who knows! at the end of the day though, it is the RR lottery, for you know the rollers are out!
Could be making more or even less. Sounds interesting that they put your car on cold let it go with an extremely low figure and it took you to put it forward about it still being on cold start! I'd question their integrity which would lead me in to questioning their whole operation lol.

Yeah I was pissed about that! When I saw it limiting at 6800, I was like WTF?! They were taking it off the rollers and that's when I noticed it and said run it again, made 20bhp more when warmed up lol!
I think the 3 runs on warm would have seen it make 170 to be honest, a corsa VXR that was on the rollers before me made 184bhp, with a front mount, decat system, panel filter and forged pistons. It was undergoing a map on the standard turbo, hoping to make 250, they blew the turbo up!

Sounds like a place I'd avoid lol
Still it's a ball mark figure a service will definitely bring some life back in to the engine. It will also unlock any lost bhps even if it isn't many it will help the engine run more efficient!

Yeah I will only take it back there after the works done, just so I can get a figure off the same rollers, other than that, won't use them again!
