A quick hello from a newbie. Was in the market for a little runaround so went for a Saxo VTS. Its far from perfect but not scared of getting my hands dirty. Always join an appropriate forum when i buy a new car as they tend to be a god send for keeping the car on the road. Look forward to joining in the fun.
Next stop is premium payment so i can get on the for sale board, got a list of bits i need already :D

Cheers chaps, a quick pick of the motor for you guys after a quick bucket of water was thrown over it. Next stop is to my friends house for a bloody good machine polish to bring the paint back to life. Also picked up some service bits to get busy with later in the week.

Its fairly standard, has some large noisy back box on it which im not keen on, bit old for that these days. its rattling against the bumper and there may also be a slight blow so will be replacing that when i get a chance to get underneath and see what needs replacing. Also has a badly fitted induction kit which i'll either see if i can get it fitted better or just replace it. Finally a front strut brace but thats it. Not looking to modify it heavily just bring it back up to decent condition.

Yeah I am the same I am too old for the loud exhaust systems now but in saying that the quietest I had must have been a scorpion stainless steel one. The vtr I bought on Friday is all bog standard and needed the wheels balanced omg what a nightmare trying to find somewhere to do them the only place that had the tool was kwik fit cost a bomb lol !!

Well already had my first issues to sort out. A classic flickering battery light and then refusal to start had me concerned for a while. found a damaged connector on the alternator so sorted that out but that wasn't the main issue. finally tracked it down to 2 loose connections on the starter motor, one was easily tightened and the other needed a washer adding to be able to tighten the nut down properly. With that sorted it fired up first turn, result. now it runs again i can get on with the service tomorrow.
