if you're only driving the car once every so often then that's fine, but insurance companies are wise to young people being put on parent's cars as named drivers then driving the car more than the parents do. if you plan to do it this way then have a think about it as then what you're doing is technically illegal ie you're giving false info regarding the insurance cover and may find yourself in the shit come a claim.

how would the insurance companies know that you're driving it more than your parent though?
Sean
2nd September 2006, 14:23
they'll check things like whether your parents have another car. obviously if they have then they'll be more suspicious that you'll have more use of this car than them and therefor less likely to offer you cover, but if it's your parents' only car then they're more likely to need the car all the time or at least more than you. that's assuming they even give you cover in the first place, which i'm highly sceptical of to be honest.
MaKaVeLi
2nd September 2006, 14:29
but even if you do get insured, there's no way to prove that the parent will never be driving.

sdidn't say there was, but come an accident they will investigate every possible angle to try and get out of paying out. what i'm saying is be careful if you're going on a policy as a named driver fully intending to be the main driver, still illegal however you look at it. same as not declaring mods imo, driving about technically uninsured and not worth it just to save a few quid in the long run.and even if you do get on the policy as a named driver, i'd be very surprised if they didnt add on close to what it would cost you on your own policy anyway, you're still a risk whether you're a named driver or main driver.

But the bottom line is, im a full time student, i work almost all of my spare time and manage to earn 190 a week to support myself while still in college and passing my exams, so i just dont appretiate ur sacarcastic comments.

It's been a good long time since I had the pleasure of working 37.5 hours perweek. I do, on average, 55 hours per week, sometimes more.

they cared about lowering tho, had to pi*s about gettin stuff signed by the machanic who lowered it. took a while to all go thru as well. bit of a joke.
