this is really for those of you not going to TRAX but if you are going then i'm sure you'll see/hear it at some point anyway

well i though i would show you lot what i have been working on for the last couple of weeks as i managed to get it finished yesterday, just in time for TRAX :D:

wot do you think?

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/curran3001/CIMG1880.jpg

and with the lights on... (they were supposed to be white light but they turned out to be blue, but i like it anyway)

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/curran3001/CIMG1882.jpg

the more observant of you will notice a tweeter missing. thats cos i dont have a flush mounting for it so i will have to add that little bit later

2nd September 2006, 19:12
looks quality mate good job :Y:

bet its a cunt reversing

Curran
2nd September 2006, 19:13
sure does but i've still got to set it up to sound its best. then bass is mental, it drowns out everything else if you have it on its normal setting so i have had to turn it all the way down. but then again they are 3000W subs so wot do you expect. plus it doesnt help that i dont have my front components in yet

puzzledzippy
2nd September 2006, 19:14
very very nice mate

Curran
2nd September 2006, 19:14
sure is a cunt reversing. BUT i have a plan for that. a rear view camera with night vision and in colour. but i've got to install the tv for it first

Curran
2nd September 2006, 19:16
i didnt have the subs working before i did this install so i wouldnt be able to compare

2nd September 2006, 19:20
is the box ported into the front of thr car and do you have any pics of the inside of the car. i have 2 of those subs and think they are great sound great. looks like a good install mate but you are missing a tweeter.:D:

Curran
2nd September 2006, 19:24
the more observant of you will notice a tweeter missing. thats cos i dont have a flush mounting for it so i will have to add that little bit later

i do realise i am missing a tweeter......try reading the whole thread:D:

and yes it is sort of ported into the front in the form of a window that i cut out of the wall but you cant see it as i have trimmed over it

i dont have any pics of the inside but if you give me a minute i will go and take one

Curran
2nd September 2006, 19:36
thanks mate!

heres a pic of the inside but its not very good as its dark and there isnt much space to take a pic anyway

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/curran3001/CIMG1884.jpg

basically its just a plain wall trimmed in black suede

reevesy_vtr
2nd September 2006, 19:39
what cubic ft was the box made to??

Curran
2nd September 2006, 19:46
no idea mate. im not going to enter any competitions with it or anything and the sound it puts out is more than enough for me so i wasnt too bothered about that sort of thing and getting the best possible sound from the equipment. i just wanted it to look the bollocks and sound sweet

Davekelz
2nd September 2006, 19:48

2nd September 2006, 19:56
looks class!!
why do you have components in the back?why do you have speakers in the back at all?

Curran
2nd September 2006, 20:00
otherwise it would be 2 massive subs and two tiny little speakers up front. thats not going to sound very good or be well balance at all

why is there speakers in the back of any car??

Imfromwales
2nd September 2006, 20:09
will the other speakers in the boot balance it out like?
wont the backboard behind your seats stop the sound coming from them speakers???

saxyVTRsaxo
2nd September 2006, 20:16
i just wanted it to look the bollocks and sound sweet
think you might have achieved that. top work for a D.I.Y install, hats off to you fella.

Curran
2nd September 2006, 20:21
thanks very much saxyVRTsaxo

imfromwales- the sound does come through as the is a large window cut in the wall as i said before. also with them it sounds good from the rear when the boot is open. the whole point is to show it off with an install like that so it needs to sound good the the rear as well. also it was done for the looks

Imfromwales
2nd September 2006, 20:21
why is there speakers in the back of any car??

There arnt usuall any in the boot lol!

also the ones in the rear are not seperated by a piece of wood to you...

Curran
2nd September 2006, 20:22
see above...

Imfromwales
2nd September 2006, 20:24
oh right i didnt know there was a window cut lol...i should read posts fully from now on....

DarylVTR
2nd September 2006, 21:21
looks mental mate can you even hear the speakers in the back they must be pritty much touching the boot when its down? doesnt that muffle the sound?!

Curran
2nd September 2006, 21:39
yes you can hear them. i dont know about it muffling the sound. some people say that the glas reflects the sound back into the car. i dont know too much about that but you can certainly hear them and they sound good

Viper
2nd September 2006, 21:43

Andyt
2nd September 2006, 22:12
It looks sweet as fuck and probably sounds nice as well, but as said, i don't really see the point in the components in the boot unless you were entering some sort of compitition or whatever. Good work though!

Curran
2nd September 2006, 22:32
may keep you guessing on that one

and123rew

looks good matey nice work, but a quick question have you check if this would pass an mot cause i have heard that you aren't allow to block the view from your rearview mirror even if you have a camera at the rear and a screen as you have suggested already

excellent job though

Curran

have you got any stage by stage pictures of the build.

Graeme
5th September 2006, 17:25
looks really good!

bet your car is heavy though now!

Curran
5th September 2006, 17:43
yeh it is noticably slower because of the weight, which it didnt need as its only a furio but then again they're not exactly fast anyway so i'm not too bothered. i prefer my music to that little bit extra speed

as for the step by step pics, i have a few but not many

J9YHC
5th September 2006, 18:13
that looks well good fella well done, can't beat a job you do yaself
