Hello all,

Just done a quick clay detailing session on my new saxo. I like a clean car but I'm not one for spending 6+ hours and going mad. Very pleased with how easy it was and quite a good result I think.

Two bucket wash with mit using Mer super advanced shampoo, 3m clay bar session, polished with showroom shine and buffed with microfiber cloths.
2 hours and done.

First pic was as I picked the car up, bit of a crap 2mp shot.

This pic is after detailing, using a better phone cam:

When I bought my VTR, it had been stood for a year under a tree, and even though I gave it a deep wash, and polish, the paint still felt like sandpaper and didn't have much of a shine. I guess because there was so much contamination on the paint, the polish just didn't really stick to the paint.

However I read about claying and after an hour claying the entire car, the paint was smooth and after a good polish and wax it looked ace. For me claying made a huge difference

Without clay: http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a554/Zac_Jiggins/WP_20130820_003_zps6daf331d.jpg (http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Zac_Jiggins/media/WP_20130820_003_zps6daf331d.jpg.html)

After claying.. plus VTS alloys:http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a554/Zac_Jiggins/IMG_0690_zps4b2fac65.jpg (http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Zac_Jiggins/media/IMG_0690_zps4b2fac65.jpg.html)

Looks ace.

I'd like to have a go myself. Was the claying part easy enough? I'm just scared I'll mess it up and It'll end up looking worse than when I started!!

As long as you keep it lubricated with the spray, well, thats if you use autoglym.. You can't really go wrong

Claying's a breeze tbh. I was a bit apprehensive so I studied youtube vids for how to's.
In the end it was a piece of p*ss, take your time don't press on hard and regularly re-fold and flatten the clay to get a clean side again.

You can feel the sap and grime 'hoover' off the surface as you go, excellent results on mine.

As above, very easy to do, you get given some detailing spray, a clay bar and a micro fibre cloth if you buy the auto glym kit. Work in small sections at a time, apply some detailer spray to paintowork, knit the clay so it's not hard, spray some detailer onto the clay and run it on the paintwork without any real pressure, you can feel it slowly become smooth where it takes away the sap.

Fold after each panel so you have a fresh clay surface and after doing a panel, wipe it clean with the cloth.

One major rule with claying is NEVER drop the clay, if you do, chuck it away instantly or your do more damage than good. It's a good idea to separate one clay bar into 3 or 4 mini clay bars just incase.

Obviously use the detailer because it came with the kit but don't bother buying any more, just use a mix of car shampoo and water.

Nice. Think I'll give this a go when I get the 106 back on the road then.
The results look really good.
